BMW Performance Grills

Just fitted my BMW performance grills on my Z4..found the task fairly easy to complete and thought I would share a little tip for anyone looking to do so in the near future.

I got around the issue of not having enough space for the bottom 2 tabs but pushing the foam cover of the front bar downwards...this gave me ample room to put my fingers into the bottom tabs and release the grill

Once the first grill is out the second was fairly easy...again i slide the foam guard slightly down and removed the second...then put the foam guard back in place and put the grill in place

Apologies for the dirty car...not the best pics as its pretty grey and overcast

The salesman said the angle of the louvres was perfectly set up to create negative pressure on the sides of the car, squeezing it in a few mm at speed subtly altering the airflow over the car and giving it an extra second per lap off the best time you can do on the Neurburgring.

Sounded feasible to me :?

I went to my local dealer for a pair. Paid about £80 from memory, though there are some eBay going for less.
 
I've had the ebay (non BMW) pattern part ones, they're completely cheap looking plastic matte and don't look anywhere near as nice as the OEM stuff.
 
I brought mine of ebay...worked out to about £80 for the pair

Definitely worth the money...makes a big difference to the front end...looks more aggressive
 
I must be missing a point here, but I can't see (at least from these pics) wtf difference there is between these and my stock grills.
 
Thanks for the pic (although i dont think you'll win any prizes for it :poke: ). The performance grills have a black surround, the stock grills have chrome (unless you have highline edition which comes with the black grills).

Ooooh forgot to ask, do you think it would be the same as the Schnitzer upgrade!!?? :D
