Darren, get the ZHP or similar :) I am checking something for you, as soon as I hear back, will let you know  I'll pm you when I know.

ZHP is nicer than that by miles. It suits the Z4 interior.

That one above would just look out of place in a Z4 imo.

My ZHP knob just arrived in the mail yesterday. Got it from http://bmwministyle.co.uk/

I went out to the car, downed the roof and braced myself to yank the old knob off............ and nearly fell over backwards when it came straight off. I barely had to apply any pressure! The knew knob went on very easily and actually comes off just as easily. I don't know why, but at least it doesn't seem like a problem.

Very happy with the ZHP. It looks great (although I would have preferred the one without the M badge, but it was much more pricey) and does actually feel nicer to shift with.

Plus is adds +10HP

Sorry to hijak your thread op but Mangozac, i just ordered my ZHP through them and just got the item sent email. Wondering what postal time was like. Thanks.

  Mine was the same - but I just sat in the drivers seat, and gave it a slight pull with one hand and it came straight off. Hope you weren't straddling the centre console like a horse? lol

SpikedJuice - To answer your question I'm 99% sure that all BMW knobs are interchangeable, just pull yours off and stick any OEM knob straight on. I do agree the ZHP is the best choice tho.

BMWMiniStyle shipped the same day I ordered (or more correctly the night after I ordered, since that was then daytime in the UK). But for some reason postage was quite slow and it took just over 3 weeks to arrive. Normally stuff from the UK arrives in less than a fortnight so I don't know - maybe it had a stay in customs?

There is nothing embarrassing about straddling one's centre console :P

You need to push it down properly till it clicks in place and then it won't come off that easily.
That's what I thought may be the case but no amount of pushing down resulted in a "click". I'm satisfied that it won't come off while driving though.
