BMW Performance 6-Pot Brake Kit

I've had no problem in the alps with the stock dustboots, but all day heavy track use obviously can be different. Depends also on the track obviously. Especially high speed braking requires a lot of energy dissipation (kinetic energy is square multiplied with speed). I'm not a real track junkie.
You can go with silicone boots; you can get them fairly cheap on ebay (these are OE stoptech seals, same size is used on 997 6 piston brembo calipers):

But they may be not so rugged as the stock ones. Silicone rubber tears easily.

If you build an all out track car you're best of with no seals, but that requires regular full piston rebuilds, so that's a lot of work, and expensive, or you'll risk massive leakeage.

Maybe changing the pistons with different material can lenghten dustboot life. The conduction of heat will play a role.

So do the dust seals on these stand up to the heat ?

There were reports that the standard 135i versions tended to burn them up on track. Not tried myself mind.

Some details at the bottom:

Mine done multiple trackdays at the Nurburgring on my M3, when I took them off they looked fine.

Also noticed that MS.Raceline are offering a rear kit now :)

Thats about time

I've been driving with the exact same rear calipers now for over 3 years. :driving:
When I bought my front ones at ECS tuning (e46/z4 conversion kit), I got a really good deal on the rear calipers (£65 per caliper  )
I have no idea why they sold them that cheap back then.

I made a custom setup for my z4 which is probably more complicated than for a z4m.

Too bad that the current prices of both the front and rear bmw performance brake kits rival that of normal bbk´s from companies like D2 racing etc. And those sets are maybe even better. They offer more variants in size etc anyways. (bigger discs etc)
This is what currently is on offer for ready to fit bmw performance bbk´s±
