BMW one bottle roof care-

i did think it was an over reaction, its not as if we've fitted a set of lexus light or spinner hubcaps FFS.

ive not once claimed to be a roof expert, looking through your post, you 've just reiterated my point,
in saying that AG hood protection kit will do your BMW fabric roof no harm.

i dont come on this forum to have petty arguements, i come on because i enjoy my Z4, and like to learn new things about it.

I had no idea the BMW roof system was different to my previous soft tops until reading about it on this forum. I was going to use AG but decided against it as the bottle does say it's not for use on certain vinyl/plastic materials, not being sure what the under layer is on the Zed roof I decided against it.

I used the BMW cleaner and it got dirt and some white mildew off with a light scrub and I will follow up with conditioner next time. It worked very well and the hood looks very good for a 2003.

Sorry chaps -i feel responsible for the war of words

Not at all
some people seem to be adverse to the facts which any new poster is entitled to be aware of and can then make up their own mind as to how they treat their
rather pricey fabric hood
On a slightly bizarre note the biggest AG supporter seems to drive a Coupe .......................

hmm i know , good job your at the other end of the country from me.

although i'll be in sommerset in the next couple of weeks

The reason you need a proofer is to protect the roof from the elements, such as from the sun u/v's and from bird sh ???t , and to stop it going green with mould , cleaning alone does not protect it .imo :driving:

No
you need the BMW or equivalent soft top impregnating agent ,which does all those things but does not waterproof the fabric , part 2 of the BMW solution Part 1 is the cleaner

"Impregnating Agent ...Suitable for textiles with climate membranes " ie Z4 Roadster ( not Coupe eh Jamie  )
Facts
But hey you use what ever you like

Wregas, the missus has a mini convertible (which I've been using good old AG on  ) would you say that is the same type of material as the zed? If so I will get some of the cleaning stuff from BMW.

Cheers

Jamie
