BMW Navigation System Radio - AUX Install

Hello Gents,

I must confess, I don't actually have a Z4, but you seem like a tech savvy bunch, and the Z4 is the only other BMW I've seen that has the "BMW Navigation System" (nav in built into the radio, no pop up screen)

So I have a 2004 X3 and I'm trying to work out an AUX install, I've watched countless videos on YouTube, read lots of blogs and threads and all this looks terribly simple with the "Business CD" you simply install plug in an empty socket and job done, but when I took out the radio to have a look, well things don't look so simple with my set up. I'm hoping I can connect some wires into the existing empty pins, but I have no idea which kit to buy, or how to install.

The big question is - has anyone on here done an AUX install with a BMW Navigation System radio?

Many thanks in advance (I'll try and work out how to stick up some pics too!)

David

The AUX pins need to go into the black 12 pin connector.

Pin 3 is AUX Left
Pin 4 is AUX Right
Pin 10 is AUX GND

They will need merging with the existing pins, although none should double up.

The three wie you have must be in pins 5, 9 and 11 for Nav audio.

oh my goodness, you are an absolute rockstar (I clearly need to grab a Z4 and join you guys more properly!)

where would you recommend getting the cable? the cable in the link Mr T posted appears to have 3 cables into a socket, so simply use those and insert as per above?

all the best
David
