BMW Insured Warranty?

Have prices gone up? I'm being offered comprehensive with £100 excess for about £83/month on a Coupe with 65000 miles using the bmw-warranty.co.uk website.

That's a hell of a lot more than the quote I got two days ago. £45 a month for the comprehensive cover with £100 excess or £35 with £250 excess @ 46k miles. That didn't include breakdown recovery though as I have it through a different company already.

If you've let the policy lapse and want to restart then it will cost more than if you buy a car new or from the AUC scheme and then renew.

There has been chat of policy prices coming down but also the millage does factor into their calculations for the price and over 60k less is covered but more 'could' go wrong. Hence why if you do take a warranty and pay monthly instead of annually the price stays the same the entire time you have the policy running.

I wouldn't be without it on my E89 35i. lots of things to go wrong. In fact earlier this year investigation and replacement of leaking injectors. £3k odd! All paid for by them except the £100 excess which i was pleased to pay.

I've just checked and seen that i pay £36.00 PCM for my policy.

+1 Didn't know you'd had you Injectors changed as well Dario.
Same as you I just had the excess to pay.

Yep, i was plagued by poor starting (lumpy as buggery for 5 odd seconds) for months. Eventually i had to do the research and advised them what the problem might be. But this was after a few investigations where they changed a couple of coils out and charged me the £100 excess.

To be fair to them, they waved the second £100 excess as it was (in my words down to their inability to diagnose a fault that was not evident on the computer).

Interesting.
Mine showed no signs of failure other than a slight hiccup a couple of times a day when driving at 30-40. I thought I had another coil pack going. Went into limp mode one day and when I took to my dealers they informed me that they were replacing all 6 injectors and the footwell module and all would be covered under Warranty.
Like you it would of been a £3000 bill if no warranty.

That seems very expensive, not even sure that the M's are that much?

I've had a letter stating that the price will go up as a result of the increase in insurance tax but that's a minor increase.

I've just looked at my booklet and it says:-
We reserve the right to vary your monthly premium at any time with 30 days written notice!

Looks like they can get you any way !
