Bmw inpa cable advice

Hi

Someone was selling a cable and disc package a few weeks ago so your laptop can read codes.
Can anyone tell me the brand of the package as I've searched and can't find it anywhere ?

Is it the blue cable and do I need the switched version ?

Think it's the Blue Cable.

There a compatibility page on that site or you could send them an email.

I have the Blue cable and it works on mine although looking at the website I should maybe have bought the other one.

Cheap enough to buy two!!!
 
How did you find the cd install and getting it up and running as I've read a review on bimmerfest and it seems a lot of people had trouble ? But it was from a couple of years ago.
 
Best thing to do is copy the contents of the disks over onto the laptop and run them from there.

On Windows 7 it did work although I did stop the Anti Virus during the install.

Install each piece of software required but follow the instructions to the letter as there was a post on another forum about the install folders needing to be in the root of drive C:\ as far as I remember.

If it looks as if it's stopped installing or not doing anything just wait as it comes back to life during the install.
 
I've just ordered the cable after everyone's advice.
Can anyone tell me which programs that are worth downloading because I'm not sure if I want to download all of them because they take up to 40 GB and I'll be using my sons school laptop !! I think I can do without TIS as I can access that on the Internet.

Are there instructions on how to use the programs?

By the way, I got the cable via ebay, so if there are any problems I have more support as there a few old r negative reviews about downloading the disc.
 
I bought the bcables.com one the other day, installed everything apart from TIS and SSS and it works fine. Managed to clear the airbag light fault.
