BMW hydraulic lines on the black market

Hi all
I have been horrified by the prices for some hydraulic lines for the roof mechanism.
People are asking for $800 for a single hose. WTF?

YouTube shows videos where people make large custom hydraulic lines by getting the connectors and hoses, cutting the hoses with a special saw, and crimping the connectors to the hose with a special crimping tool.

If BMW doesn't make them any more, or never did, there must be shops that can make equivalent hoses for this roof system.

Does anyone know more? What type of hose it is, the dimensions, what the connectors are called, or the places that make them up?

Thanks all.
Lindsay

You could ask this company in the UK for help https://www.thezedshed.co.uk/e89-roof-repairs

If you can remove the lines , you could try any hydraulic line shop , and just ask them to copy the existing as long as the fitting are correct

TBH, that is nonsense regarding the E89 roof topic.
Get informed at first about what is breaking in the roof, why is it breaking and what are the recomended repair options. After that, I'd accept blaming the whole world. :headbang:

Oh, I know what is wrong, at least one of the things that is wrong, A hydraulic line popped out of one of the rams.
I’m just reaching out to the forum to see if there are alternatives to the prices I have been encountering thus far, in case I find some hoses that are damaged.
Great work on that data logging tool you created for the roof system by the way Robbiz4, and thanks to everyone for all the helpful suggestions.

As stated this supplier does each section of hose for less than £80…

If that's all and the hydraulic ram hasn't been damaged, you easily can re-fit it with the small metal clip, that only slides into the ram. If that is missing, send me a PN.

Be aware, that replacing a single hose requires to cut dozens of zip ties and dismantle another dozen of fabrics. That is indeed much more efford than getting the complete loom replaced.
