BMW howling sound from the rear end.

Sure hope the change in diff corrects the noise!! Hate to think I’m going to all this work and still not fixed

I've got a woo woo sound sometimes that increases with speed, like when driving past roadside posts/fencing. My wife says she can't hear it but I can. Since I had my new rear tyres, they are Goodyear asymmetric 6 so can't be them surely, hoping it's nothing more than the hand brake pads sticking a bit. This thread has now got me worried though :thumbsdown: If it is bad at least I'm in the UK so help is only 3 hours drive away 
Is the car lowered or wide tyres rubbing on the bodywork as the rear suspension compresses on accelleration, it could be a broken spring but you would have seen that when you did the diff.

I have poli bushings, but the noise was noticeable with the originals too.
Maybe every diff has this sound? Or coming from the different area? Any idea?
Hi,
Did the noise get progressively worse with time and did you establish the cause of the problem. I have a noise from the rear which I am assuming is differential but its quite loud now and there all the time at any speed and not when just under load/acceleration.
