BMW/Grmin semi integrated satnav

yeah he definately told me it was there...he told me the unit would be in a drawer...and i will put him on the spot...the sales manager emailed me saying i should have gone to see him about cause he would have put me straight that the sat nav wasn't included...i'm not buying that which is why i took the advice given here and went to the DP.
we'll see what they have to say for themselves tomorrow.

Ha! So you have go into see the sales manager to check that everything they say is included with a car is included with a car?!! That's mad, he wouldn't expect you to call him up and ask about whether it is definitely coming with wheels, or seats, despite only having the salesman's assurance that it will.

Not its not BMW :poke: - its the dealer who sells second hand vehicles under a new vehicles sales franchise.
Yes complain to BMW but its a matter for the dealer to resolve. Perhaps the dealer should be named and shamed!

Highlights the need to check and check again when buying pre owned to ensure the deal was as stated and the vehicle condition was as described.

and yes Alan, BMW have told me its for the dealer to sort out...but they have let the dealer know they are aware of the problem

You may joke, but hill start assist was listed as a standard feature yet when it turned out it wasn't, they said I should've specifically asked if it was included!

I tell you, they are slimy bastards who can compete with an insurance company when wriggling out of coughing up!
 
well i've come to the end of the line with Halliwell Jones... i went into meet them....DP...sales manager and salesman all there. I gave my side...saying they told it was withit....salesman gave their side....saying they never guaranteed it was with it...sales manager says i should have mentioned it to him (my response was i never mentioned heated seats but it was a feature i was told it had)..we went round in circles and the DP said he thinks they could have done things differently but he has to back staff as well as do the best by customers so....they will do me the head unit for £80 (cost price minus 50%).....Fact is it is cheap for the unit....and i'd have paid the full price had they told me it wasnt with it....but i'm done arguing now...so i'm gonna buy it....have the service they have scheduled for me in July (they have offered me a full valet at this point too...to make up for it but the car is pretty clean and i'll have only had it 6 weeks) and then thats the last they will ever see of me!!
 
Sorry to hear the problem was not resolved BUT DO NOT LET THEM DO A VALET........if you like paint swirls then let them but at your bodyworks peril!
 
Halliwell Jones in Warrington are a useless pack of isosceles!!

I ordered by brand new Z4 E89 through them *with BMW Semi Integrated Nav actually*.

I had nothing but problems and issues with them from day of collection for approx. 6 months and in the end ended trading it in for an Audi.

HJ and BMW UK weren't interested in sorting out my problems.

Had numerous meetings with my salesman James Kelly and Scott Hamilton the DP. Both a complete waste of space in my opinion.

Anyway, glad you have managed to sort things out (in a fashion) The garmin unit is an impressive piece of kit so worth £80 of your hard earned.
 
Yeah, £80 is a good price, although annoying the way this has happened.

Agree with the advice on valet...say no!

Sounds like your salesman stitched you up.....slimy bastard!
 
its crazy...cause in one breath they say...we're not just interested in selling you this car...but the next one and the one after that...and in the next saying...no you need to pay this £80.
I was tempted to just tell em to stick it....but then i'd have nothing....and have to pay £200 plus for the unit...so i'll have it at £80 and they have lost a customer...
love the car tho so its not all bad eh?
 
They don't think about that though, they only think about that months targets/commission etc.

I've bought loads of cars from my current dealer - I reckon they think I am a guaranteed customer every few years (even got my wife into BMW now). It is true, that for the last 5 or 6 cars I havent even looked at anything other than BMW, but after the hassle I had with my first Z4...and more importantly, BMW UK and my dealer showing their true colours (i.e. crap support) I am determined to at the least look at other marques next time round. That is 3 years away, so who knows what will happen, but now I've got used to having a non-practical car (always used to be saloon or hatchbacks) I'm open to look at lots of other things. Guy on the babybmw forum has just got a TTRS and although I've never seen one in the flesh, the pictures look tasty!

So yes, the dealers dont seem to care about repeat custom - or even recommendation! That £80...had they waived it, would possibly give you a totally different opinion of them.

heres a question....My car has bluetooth.....and i have 2 phones.(one for work, one personal)...with the in car one i can connect just one at a time...so i forward the other....does this system mean i have 2 Bluetooth connects....both of which will mute the stereo if i get a call and give me phonebooks and stuff for me to make calls??.
 
That could work I guess....pair 1 phone to the cars bluetooth, and pair the other phone to the Garmin. Just remember though that the garmin unit needs to be connected in order for it to work....so I'd pair the work phone to it, so that you will never miss a personal call!!

Thanks Kev...so many daft questions..soz....does the garmin take over the stereo speakers for its voice instructions and for phone calls???
 
The one my wife had did. Even if the stereo was off, the voice would come over the car speakers, and I think with music or radio playing, it cuts out the music for the voice etc.
 
sooo...following the meeting where i agreed to pay £80..i waited another month...with excuses of the head unit being on back order and the new computer atlas system being down etc....anyway....finally this week i get the call its all there.
so down i go friday as i'm on my way to liverpool....get the unit..but its everything...the wiring loom...the cradle..the lot....but guess what...the head unit doesnt fit in the already installed cradle!!! Doh!!
so he gets out some technician bloke...to decide how long it will take to fit the one thats arrived....tech bloke says....ah...heres your problem...this is the bmw satnav...but the cradle in your car is for the garmin pro-nav....be much easier just to put a pro-nav in....we have them in stock!!!!!

hahaha.......totally useless

anyway i now have sat-nav...and its a great bit of kit for £80..
