BMW extended warranty - £835

no house insurance, no buildings insurance etc

as others have said, a warrant is just another insurance scheme, i'm sure over the long term my overall savings on anual insurance policies will exceed any payments i would ever claim

My parents had a burst pipe at their house a few years ago that leaked for 7 hours while they were at work and caused £93,000 of damage. For the £50 a month the insurance cost (and the subsequent £7 rise in premiums - that's it) there is no way I would take the chance. Plus most mortgage companies will insist you have buildings insurance anyway...

I bought the extended warranty for the Z4M too at £63/mo for peace of mind really. Nothing has gone wrong on this car yet so I am sure I'm due! I know I need about £1k of claims to 'get my money back' but at least I know if something serious fails I am covered. It also makes it more attractive used if I decide to sell privately at some point.

Agree with you on this and have done exactly the same thing (£63 a month, £250 excess and Emergencty Breakdown as well). Car will be sold in 2010 so I wanted the Full Insured BMW Warranty to go with it. If I was buying my car, I would want it as well.

You're in a minority of one here SittingBull. Everyone bar you seems to realise that trim is only covered by the original 3 years manufacturers warranty. By the way the centre caps can be had for as little as £14.

Do you know where I can get these for £14? They seem to be about £30 for 4 on ebay...

Do you get a reminder letter for the extended warranty or does it keep coming out monthly until you say otherwise? Mine's up at the end of the month and no letter yet.

I got two new style sets for £14 each from Dick Lovett BMW in Bristol via their eBay site but that was in May 2009. I've not looked at the prices for over a year.

they just keep taking it monthly, I asked BMW warranty about this last year. I'm thinking of dropping the BMW warranty which is £54, £250 excess but comprehensive for an AA 'Gold' warranty, been quoted £39 per month, £50 excess, claims upo to value of car and full home start memebership. As car gets older not so bothered about warranty being with bMW.

BMW just replaced my gear knob, the diversity amp and a left speaker all through my extended warranty! Worth its weight in gold, granted thats the first issue i've had in over a year!!!

I'm pretty sure you can alter the policy at any time as it runs month to month.

Can you get a price guide online or do you have to call Mondial? (My original PIN etc don't seem to work now). And is it true that there is a basic breakdown service included in the policy even if you don't have the Emergency Service enabled?

Do BMW write to you inviting you to take out an extended warranty if you purchased a car AUC ? My 1 year AUC is about to expire and heard nothing from BMW. Can I do it online ? Tried before to get an online quote and it wouldn't let me when I put my Reg No in.

I just got my renewal thing through a few days ago as the AUC warranty expires at the end of the month. You need the pin number and ID but for me it was my chassis number and surname so try that maybe? Otherwise give them a bell!
