BMW Corp....

For the last several weeks or so, I have noticed that BMW has stepped up its Television advertising at least 40%. These are on highly watched stations like CNBC, FoxNews etc....

Sometimes you would see four commercials an hour for BMW, all talking about the fuel efficiency of the BMW. Now you see commercials about performance/technology..... Gas prices are down so I guess it was time to change the ad's...

But I guess it was not working enough.

Yesterday, BMW announce that it was cutting production.

Thought????

Cut production and lower prices or cut production and keep the same price?
Over here prices are still going up! :(

You are correct. A couple of weeks ago BMW announced that it would be shifting allocations away from the U.S. to more stable markets. Unfortunately the economic mess has spread to those other markets and as a result production cuts were announced.

I have a hard time believing that statement from BMW has much credibility.

The US is BMW's Largest market, and the advertising 'full court press' started before the economic troubles.

Of course, now with the 'troubles' no market is better than the the US right now..

Not sure about better, but for sure the US can't be any worse than any European market at the current time, they're all going to be tough for the time being.

We had a load of layabout socialist students marching through the city on Friday, complaining about how 'we' shouldn't pay for 'their' mistakes.

Right, because the crisis just affects the bankers - and what do they mean 'we' shouldn't bail them out? You have to pay taxes to count yourself in that, socialist tossers.

I just pushed through the riot police, then shoved all them out the way, I wasn't missing my bloody train home - was tempted to start burning money in front of them, but time was tight

I don't mean the US has a better economy, I mean they are all the same right now...
Ah OK I see.

This is a global financial, albeit, fragile, economy! We are all in this together! :headbang:
Yep especially the US and the UK are very closely linked in policies, economy, etc etc (and this forum :) )

Mattt, what effects do you see now in the city then, bankers jumping off Canary Wharf or business as normal (I mean generally). In Leeds it certainly seems to be business as usual, shops and streets are still busy, I work in LS1 and it's no different to a year ago, and in the suburbs the out-of-town shopping centres have never been busier.

There will probably have to be mass unemployment before people sit up and take notice.

City's still business as usual, outside the offices at least. Although I only see a very thin section between Liverpool St & Threadneedle St.

I use the 'pub-o-meter', as there is a pub outside my office window - and it is still very busy, slightly less than a few weeks ago - but lots of things can affect that, e.g. weather.
