BMW ConnectedDrive store starts discount

Just noticed that the black friday discount starts on BMW ConnectedDrive store. However, I think it's less useful here as only G29 can buy things there but almost all G29 services should still within the 3 years free period. I didn't tick the lighting/visibility pack when ordered the car but the car has what's called high beam assistant prep (basically, all hardware installed but not activated). So, I can buy the life-time subscription of high beam assistant for £112 (original price is £160). I think it's quite cheap. Also, based on the information there, from Nov.24, service pack will become available till the end of Nov for purchase. It covers 5 years/60k miles service.

On my new arrival I think I can subscribe to high beam assist and speed camera locations?

I wouldn’t bother with the first one as on the missus car it is too laggy for me- blinds other drivers

Will check price for the latter though…

I've emailed local dealer about service inclusive, awaiting quote.

I think dealer stops doing the service inclusive package. This is kind of Black Friday deal only as I saw it for my G31 last year this time then disappeared. Instead, they are pushing for pay-monthly service plan which I think is meaningless. But I can be wrong though.

For whatever reason, speed camera locations is not shown for my G29 with the latest software. I've subscribed it for my G31 when it became available initially. The full price is £20 and it should also have the 30% off.

I'm not sure what's your missus' car. My experience with the high beam assistant was on a Porsche Macan Turbo and I think it responses fast enough. I've subscribed and I will see how well it works on our G29.

High beam assist tends to work well for the driver of that car, for everyone else on the road it's @#$?ing annoying. No matter how quickly it reacts, it doesn't know the car coming the other way is there until it's appeared round the corner and has full beams in it's face. Even if just for half a second, that's not really what you want - especially when the car with high beam assist invariably also has super-bright LED headlights...

This is where I was when I experienced it. That's why I think it responsed quite quick (as you said, maybe within half a second)

When I am one of the everyone else on the road, I found Audi's matrix LED a bit annoying as it keeps changing the beam pattern with less than half a second interval.

Lorries have those 'sidelights' in the top corners of the cab to give you some idea that they're coming over the brow of a hill, as the driver sits well above the line of the headlights. By the time your fancy auto dipping lights have seen the main headlights appear, said lorry driver has been blinded for 3 or 4 seconds at least.
If we assume the car is going to do everything for us, I'm sure our concentration levels drop.
I had the facility on my 335d and after a couple days of 'ooh, that's clever' I realised it was too slow and switched it off.

Nor mine. I didn't realise that it was available on any BMW

It became available in April 2021 for my G31 after dealer updated the iDrive 7 software to the latest version at that time. My G31 is pre-LCI version so the iDrive 7 is what they called lite version. Basically, no remote software update ability and I have to bring the car to dealer to update the software. My initial thought for G29 is that once it updated to latest version via RSU, this speed camera will become available. Obviously, I'm wrong.

However, to be fair, I don't think it's good anyway after trying on my G31 so I don't really bother with it on G29.

I find the high beam assist very good on the G29, don’t know about lags but I’m not getting any indication from oncoming cars that I’m blinding them. And they’re bloody bright so I would expect them to let me know.

Mine is mainly driven on single carriageway A roads.

Would probably get the speed camera warning if it was available

This is where I want/need to use the high beam assistant. With some twisted A road in the Peak, sometime I find myself in a place where I need to switch off the high beam but none of my hands can reach the stalk. Neither is it safe to move my hand during cornering to reach the stalk. Although there might be a bit delay in switching off, at least I don't need to worry about it.

Just wondering, your car has the visibility package so I guess your headlight can turn with your steering wheel and can turn on/off one of the high beams, right?

My car is booked in for the dealer to update the software so perhaps it may appear them

If you are referring to G29, then there is a RSU available recently. If you've already performed this RSU, then I don't think dealer software update will make any difference to the speed camera subscription. But it's just my thought

Is this RSU delivered to the car automatically? When I first got mine in June I performed a RSU, been nothing since then.

Dealer has come back with a service plan, knows nothing about Service inclusive. I looked at the service plan months back and would have taken it, except if you sell the car and don't transfer it, they will refund what is left in your "pot" minus a £50 cancellation charge. :x
Fifty quid to cancel a DD, don't think so. I just put money into a separate account every month.

You need to have the MyBMW app on your phone which will download the new software. Later when you connect your phone to the car, it will transfer the new software to the car. After that, the car will let you know it's ready to update.

This is as what I said earlier. Service Inclusive becomes a black Friday special. However, unless you do a lot of miles, I don't think it worth the price now if it's still similar to the price last year.

When I bought the service pack for my F10 in 2016, it's £5xx and cover for 5 years/50k miles. I used it for 3 services plus a brake fluid change in total so well worth the money. But last year for my G31, the black friday price was about £1200 and cover for 5 years/60k miles. Considering first two services only cost about £900 (£350 and £550 for first and second service respectively) and I won't need the third service within 5 years, the price doesn't make sence to me.

Yes, mine has the visibility package so maybe that makes the difference but I don’t know enough about it to say yes or no.

I drove it 15 miles on twisties on Saturday night around midnight, alI can say is I’ve never driven anything that illuminates the road and roadside like that did. They picked up deer several times and a fox that were all just off the road. Met multiple vehicles, including lorries, and was expecting to be flashed because I was really conscious of how bright the lights were but not once.

Have got the app and was driving earlier, no indication a software update was available.

I’m not sure how to interrogate via the app but this shows when the update was available and when it was done

Hope it’s still going when my car arrives.
I want to get the high beam assist for the discount and see what the service inclusive offers are.
If it’s like last time, it’s 5 year servicing or 60,000 miles for circa £600.
You need to keep your car 4 years or do a lot of miles for it to be worthwhile.

I would love the speed camera, but it isn’t available on g29 for some reason.
