bmw car trackday

A big learning curve, a bit disappointed to be the slowest/worst driver on track, right now I'm feeling that track days aren't for me :( Had a passenger ride in another guy's Z4M, I now understand what the car is capable of and how I'm driving it like Miss Daisy :)

Disappointing for sure, I've been there. You have to remember that it's not a race against anyone but you - the goal is to make your next lap better than your last. I tend to work on improving a section at a time early on, and try to put the entire thing together towards the end, while not damaging the car or looking like an idiot; I've been more successful with the former than the latter. :D

My goal next year is to stick with one track (Autobahn Country Club) and really learn it, as I've never driven the same track twice so far. By the time I think I'm getting it together, the day's over.

The trouble is you can never concentrate on your driving skills or lines etc as there is always someone up your bumper on a track as short as Brands Indy

A short clip of the day..

Do they not do point by's? (that is car in back needs permission from front car to pass?

Oh nice blond!

You get a Blue flag if someone behind you is looking to pass, but then they don't tend to wait for you to see it!

Finally managed to but this together , see below some footage from Brands - not the best quality camera thought...

Good stuff. Were you in 4th or 5th at the end of the straight? And did you work out what your best lap time was?

Here is another clip from me, in car this time...

I didn't time myself - did you? You seemed to get quicker through the day..

Was in 4th at the end of the straight. Only used 3&4th on this track, found that i was carrying more speed through the slower corners meaning no need for 2nd. You could get to 5th by the end of the straight if you really pushed, but this needs V good brakes which the M doesn't have.

I didn't time myself on the day but working out from the video footage my best time was 1:07. I would imagine you would have been around 1 minute dead. I think with a bit more practice I could get close to that myself, my main shortfalls were too quick into the corner and hence too slow out, as well as poor lines. To put this into perspective a CSL driven by a pro driver does the lap in 55 seconds.

have done a 1.03 in our e36 325 with slicks to put your is perspective we are doing 1.06 with road tyres but the car is stripped out and the suspension is hard as iron, but you are correct once you know the track and get the braking accurate the times will tumble. judging by the ride i had in an mc and the speed he was getting down the straight, i reckon close to 120 (i'm only getting 105). there was a racing aston there one day he was doing about a lap and a half to our one!
