BMW car club

I have been a member the last 10 years or so. Gets you discount on parts & servicing, monthly straight six magazine. Lots of club events in your area & nationwide too if you wish to participate. It's not expensive £50 if I remember

I joined a couple of years ago. Other than the mag I get no value out of it.

The 10% discount I've always got anyway from my dealer.

Who's a member? Is it worth joining?

Hello .. I am a member, same views as Kemit ... Good quality mag and keeps you in touch with events etc, plus discount on parts if needed

Have been a member for about 10 years, and don't find the discounts particularly exclusive or worthwhile (or expired).

However, as a 'club' you will only get out of it what someone/you are willing to put into it. I can complain about the magazine content, but can't really offer anything to it, so I can't really blame them for putting in the only stuff they've got.

I mainly use it for the events and track days. Would happily forego the magazine as there's very little of interest to me in there, and the latest, more up to date info is on the forum/website.

Most dealers claimed to have included the BMWCCGB discount in any price they charge, or say they've opted out and run their own loyalty scheme.

i was many years ago, was always good to get the mag, even though sometimes it was one sided views, i never forung any discount offered was really that great, inc insurance.

but the social calendar was worth it.

I even helped at a yorkshire area event and did a basic first aid / first on scene arrival course for free..

As the ex-Z4 registrar for the car club, I can recommend membership - but not for the reasons the club would likely want. I will point out that I'm no longer a paid member.

The organisation at the top level is and most likely will always will be a shambles, but get down to the grass roots levels with the regions and you will meet a great bunch of enthusiasts. You can get involved with the regions without being a member before deciding to join (try before you buy). I've organised many meetups with them at various events and had a good time. A lot of the regions have Facebook pages for you to get in touch with them.

The club magazine is worthwhile. As for the discounts you can generally get better elsewhere, you will generally get a better discount from a dealer with a forum mention (particularly at Sopers).

So for the magazine and getting access to the regional & european events, it's definitely worth it.

Thanks for the replies. After discussion with the Sales Manager at my dealership (Rybrook, Shrewsbury), I have been given a year's membership of the BMW car club for free as a goodwill gesture so I'll have 12 months to decide if I want to remain in the club. :D

I've found that these sorts of organisations tend to be biased towards the south of England.
