BMW cancels M3 CSL: How about the Z4M

BMW has announced that the M3 CSL has been canceled due to poor economics. :o Has BMW announced anything about the M version of the new Z4? The article in Car Magazine surmises that it does not bode well
for the M brand if an M version of the X5 and X6 are going to be produced while a M3 CSL and possibly a Z4M are getting shelved.

I did see that, but I still think this is going to mean the Z4M will happen again. The TT-RS looks like an announcement must be imminent. With this and the SLK55, no way there won't be a Z4M.

The question you should be asking is how reliable the information in Car magazine is. Not very IMO.

It was also posted here too so maybe more reliable than first thinking, I still think the Z4M will definitely happen, but would be very surprised about the CSL.

I suppose because the CSL is so highly thought of amongst enthusiasts it is forgotten that it was a bit of a sales disaster at the time, and I'm sure that BMW must have lost significant amounts of money on the CSL generally, who knows. How many people actually paid £60k for one?

There's going to be an RS5 Audi with 450 horses and 0-60 in 4.5 seconds so BMW may change their minds and build the CSL. 100Kg lighter and 440 BHP and probably another £10K on the price.
I read somewhere that they were to build 'M' versions of the X5 and X6 and sell them to Russian gangsters! Sad sad day if it happens and we don't get the CSL or Z4M.

I can't see why they canceled it, and instead are making more pointless cars like the bmw x6 :(
I actually like the X6. Saw one on the road the other day. It looked well 8)
