Bmw body shop - Stephen James

Hi,

I was rear ended yesterday on the m25 driving around 10-20mph in slow traffic. I decided to go trough an accident management company (Europa consultant) so I can do the repairs at any body shop.

I’m looking for reviews on Bmw Stephen james (Bromley) body shop. Anyone used them before?

Generally, how good is the work with BMW bodyshops? Can I expect the usual orange peel?
probably looking at a new boot lid and new rear bumper so I want to get a good paint job.

You can get the repairs done at a body shop of your choice without using an accident management company.

I was rear ended in my e46 330i sport a few years ago and took it to a well known BMW dealership in the midlands. Got it back and it was a terrible job. I'd expected it to be decent because it was a BMW franchise - good job I checked it over closely before driving off though as it was a joke. Went back inside and kicked off a bit, the bloke agreed with me and blamed the guy who assessed it from my insurance company who just happened to be there. I had a word and expressed my disgust - they'd tried to re-use damaged parts to save money. It was eventually sorted but you have to be aware that they'll do anything to save a few quid, even risk the body shops reputation- bloody insurers.

Moral of the story - doesn't matter who you take it to, go over it with a fine tooth comb when it's done and BEFORE you leave the premises. Don't accept shoddy work.

my insurance asked me to pay an excess of £800 and will not provide a like for like replacement car.
