With my car potentially selling very soon, I will be putting a deposit on an AUC car I've seen. Does anyone know how much insurance you get with the car? As Im looking to buy my insurance for the right date to save £££

insurance with the car? you need to insure the car from the day you pick it up from the dealer or that's what I had to do :) as they don't do anything like 7 day drive away insurance like Audi does.

Ah cheers Navid, I thought the dealer mentioned a 7 day insurance with it.. perhaps I was mistaken unless anyone else has any further info?

You should be able to get a 7 day insurance with the car. My father bought an AUC in October and we got 7 days complementary insurance, they even managed to put me, his 17 year old son on! :D

The BM dealer I bought AUC from said they couldn't do it - we got 12 months tax thrown in so we had to provide insurance details in advance of collecting the car

you can get that if yours and your paperwork is not ready, they have to call their insurance and arrange it for you.

I always organise my own though.

I got 14 days from BMW when I bought my Z4MC, and only used it to give me time to ring around and put the M5 on a classic policy.

if you are buying from a main dealer you will get 7 days comp insurance through BMW insurance services. The dealer will give you a 'Dealer number', the rest you do on line at http://www.bmwfs.co.uk/insurance

The longer you wait, the longer the insurance companies will have to hike their prices. IMO you could actually save money by taking out a policy now...?

It's true, 7 days complimentary for up to 3 drivers.

Yep, just bought AUC car from BMW main dealer and got 7 days fully comp also dont dismiss BMW insurance, when you ring them with the reference number for the 7 days cover they will ask if you want a quote, you will be surprised how competitive they are, when we asked they beat all the online sites we tried and with a low excess.

If you call twice the price I'm paying for competitive, they quoted just over £800 and got it for £370, but the 7 days free was useful especially as I returned the car after 5 days along with the keys.

I suppose it does depend on personal details, i was quoted £330 about £50 less than anything i could find on the internet.

when we got our Audi, called round and just of interest called Audi Insurance, the Direct line quote was about £300 while the Audi was almost £600 for the same car  but you never know, so why not ask.

Yep I bought mine from a BMW Dealer in Nov and got the 7 x day BMW Insurance but the quote to continue was horrendous so went with Esure.

Wanted £2500 to insure me on the Z4MC.

They seemed to think it was competitive, and didn't take kindly to me laughing as I said "No thanks!".

Just to follow up on this, its easy to set up free 7 day insurance for BMW and I didnt even need the dealer code (the dealership neglected to give me it!)

I found a local rate alternative number to the 0844 number provided by using saynoto0870.com

Called, 7 days no problem, quote on a year = £1750 (no thanks), done.

This gave me the opportunity to postpone my real insurance for another week, bringing the price down £50. It always pays to buy your insurance in advance (3 weeks is a good target), at the end of a day / week / month if possible. :)

Good tip - will give it a whirl in April when due!

My weeks free insurance was from aviva, got the dealer code called them the night before picking he car up, they emailed the dealer to tax the car job done. And was cheaper than any where else.
