BMW Assistance

I know it's not a dealer but I have to give credit where it's due particularly with my recent woefull experiences of BMW dealers.

The car threw a yellow warning emissions light over Christmas and I would've had to take tiime off work to get it to the dealer.
I called BMW Assistance for advice especially if it was safe to drive the car and they offered to come out to me.
I got an ETA text, the guy turned up on time, diagnosed the problem as a dirty exhaust side solenoid actuator and fixed it.
Had a coffee and a natter about Z4's whilst the car was doing its diagnostic and he was off.

Brilliant!

I will add that when I rang BMW Assistance last week with my low oil pressure warning, the service was great. They had a low loader out to me within an hour to get me home (as it was in the evening), then had arranged for another low loader to pick the car up the following morning and take it to the local dealers.

Kept me updated with phone calls and a text in the evening whilst I was waiting and then a text first thing in the morning with an ETA on the second truck.

Broke down in Germany, the car not me, and car was unable to be fixed by local dealers so I was put in a hotel for 2 nights, car taken back to London on a loader, I was flown back and a 3 series waiting for me at the airport. Took 3 weeks to get car back and fixed under warranty, but all good. Even had my entire costs of my holiday refunded by customer service

OK you lot are making me feel better about keeping mine now :P

I would miss it if I got rid... even though she's been a right old cow to me. Like a gorgeous model with something wrong upstairs.

Good for BMW assistance :) but name and shame the woefull dealers so we can all avoid

It may be a miscommunication at this point and mistakes do happen so I'd like to give them a chance to put things right but I will feedback my experiences once it's sorted.

What firm do the roadside assist? Is it a BMW dealer or AA etc?

Mine came out in a branded BMW Customer Service 5 series touring. Dunno if they're linked to a specific dealer, my chap says that they all work from home.

It costs a bit to keep the service tho doesnt it? - I mean the full dial up from iDrive service.

Thats amazing!

Much better than when I broke down on a country road. Called smart assist requesting a low loader as they wouldn't be able to fix by the side of the road.

Needless to say they sent out a patrol unit who took one look, had a laugh and called for a flat bed.

Two hours later I was recovered. :fuelfire:
