BMW Assist

My E89 has a 3 year subscription to "BMW Assist" which began in 2012.

I was doing some reading on http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/connecteddrive/?siteID=1312 and it seems there is a SIM card within the car and that I can make breakdown calls to BMW.

My question was:

If I breakdown and use the BMW Assist to call out for breakdown assistance, is this free of charge or will I be billed for the call out?

I'm trying to work out if I need to purchase break down cover from the AA or similar.

Cheers.

BMW Assist includes free recovery/roadside assistance, they subcontract it out. Oddly mine ( a 2009 car) lasts until December 2013? Quite what happens if you press the button when you're out of the BMW assist contract...

edit: what I would do, to be sure you get all the right information... is call them via BMW assist. I did this to check my contract renewal date.

No.. Sim is in car. Otherwise in an emergency if you didn't have you're mobile there would be no assist!

So I've got a six cylinder 3.0 ltr mobile phone?
