I was told that this subscription service was £120 per year so I just called BMW to see what facilities it offers.

According to the lady on the phone all it offers for £120 is the ability to remotely send a route to your car.
I was told on a different occasion you could remotely unlock from a mobile phone too, she didn't however mention this so I'm sure she was just fobbing me off.

Does anybody with a similar age car subscribe to this and if they do what are its uses?

I got it free for a year when I bought mine, but didn't bother renewing it.

You can get routes, and information from the service.

The later BMWs have a much better service which connects to iDrive and gives much more functions.
 
yep... just routes.. i had it for the first year too... pointless really.

My mums E90 was much better though.. and the woman on the end of the line that you speak to was nicer to deal with :roll:
 
My current setup is the unlock/lock thing from the iphone, ability to send addresses to car from maps, a call service to ask them for directions, hotels, restaurants etc without faffing with the BMW Live portal and typing stuff in on the iDrive wheel. I use it now and again, not sure about renewal which is in Dec. £12 a month, mmm. Having said that I do have the thing read me the news, odd RSS feeds and weather on my daily commute, I might miss that, might.

You mention iDrive wheel, so not a E85 then?
 
Not worth it on the E85/E86. I have it on my E90 with iDrive. Was told you can set it to precondition the car from your iPhone. But it doesn't, just manages to unlock it after a minute of tapping unlock! Oh and the lock function doesn't work! The news, weather access etc is handy though. Haven't got the sending the route to cars nav to work just yet.
