BMW are a bunch of scammers...

Recently on my way home put my windows down, then went to put them back up and there was a crunching noise and the passenger window went back down. I had a nightmare getting my window up. Rain was chucking it down too. Anyway i realised my car is still under warranty by a third party group called scotsure for another 4 days! I took my car to BMW as i couldn't find a garage that could take a look at my car until next wednesday. They are charging me £120 for a diagnosis. There is also a brake pressure sensor that has failed because my traction control hasn't worked for ages. I know its a brake pressure sensor because my m8 and myself found the fault cold on it. Their diagnosis is the window drive and regulator needs replaced and the DSC sensor. Total cost for repairs and labour plus my £120 diagnosis is £1024. The Warranty will cover everything but the regulator... at a price of £699. I spoke to the guy at BMW and said well i can get a regulator for £50 on ebay whats the cost minus the regulator and fitment... £867.. £699 plus £120 is not £867 its £819. I asked where the extra 50 quid is going and they said brake fluid and insulting tape etc... what an earth?!? this is truly outstanding, for less than £367 i could have replaced and fitted all these parts myself. Not sure what the window drive motor would cost but still. This is utterly ridiculous. Sorry about the speil.. i have no time to proof read it so apologies if there are mistakes.

:( :( :( :(

Some dealers are much better then others.. but imo a trusty independent is worth its either in gold!

I guess from this that there are get out clauses in there:

LEVEL OF COVER WHAT IS NOT COVERED

COVER TWO, Mechanical or electrical breakdown to any component not specifically stated as being covered or due to any fault that is noted or reported during routine servicing or vehicle health checks.

COVER ONE

Mechanical or electrical breakdown to:

Body panels, paintwork, glass

Brake components due to wear and tear or seizure

Fuel injectors and fuel lines

Airbags, batteries, bulbs, tyres

General wear and tear

Non-factory fitted radio cassettes, CD players

Mechanical or electrical breakdown due to any fault that is noted or reported

during routine servicing or vehicle health check

Policy booklet nice up to date with their reference to a Radio Cassette player

the regulator is mechanical... well they are covering 2 new brake pressure sensors and the window motor, im just going to need to authorize this and get the work done. £324 out of pocket.. just think its crazy cos i could have prolly got all these items for less. I don't think i need 2 brake pressure sensors either, it was only throwing one of them up on the fault code

You are doing your research, so no matter how bad the dealer is you should end up in good shape. It's the people who just pay instead of thinking that get burned.

Also, I just looked up the window regulator and it's 149.47 Euro. I would ask them why they are trying to charge you four times what BMW charges for that part. Maybe call BMW and ask them why their dealership is trying to rip you off.
