BMW after market DAB anyone?

Will be following this closely. Stuart, let us know what you decide, as I've always thought DAB would be nice in the Zed.

Nice one, and if you managed to haggle him down any, let us know. Could be useful to know if we buy from our local dealers. :)

I got a kit from Halfords for Christmas... fitting booked for 10 Jan - total price £120. Bit nervy about how it's going to look. Not fussed about the FM coverage as thats fine anyway, but if I can get Talksport without it dropping off every time I go under a motorway bridge I'll be a happy bunny :D

Stuart Truman, its this one http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_916757_langId_-1_categoryId_165655 with the Autoleads DAB Film Antenna SMB - DAB-AA1.

Fitting should only be £30 actually... I've got to go back and query that.

Interesting read from PistonHeads, Stuart.

Its not the BMW one... It's Halford's, 3rd of the price. Utter pants?? There's not a wire in sight when the armrest is down - so imo it's amazing... no trailing charger wires or need to sucker it to the window like with some.

… every 5 minutes as DAB is no good :D

DAB is being phased out, the new BMWs have streaming subscriptions.

Presume you have to raise armrest to change station though.

Agreed... but I only got it so that I can pick up Talksport (AM). So for me its perfect. Drove Bristol to B-ham with it today. Ordinarily radio would have dropped out every time I went under a motorway bridge, would disappear completely under spaghetti junction, and just south of Worcs I'd have had to change stations. Instead with the DAB I had perfect high volume sound.

If you were using an iPod/phone connected through aux I'd have to open up the armrest too as the aux in is situated in there.

excuse my overly exaggerated description, bad day... in all honesty its not that bad and fits the space spookily well, it looks the same as the bmw unit except bmw uses a shite remote stuck to the dash.......

if youve done a DIY, well done, its not a bad solution actually...... sadly it would not work in the e85.
