It has rear seats ummmm unsure need to look at it a bit but convertible available in Jan. what does this mean the roadster is on the way out....

The 4 series is a direct replacement for the 3 series coupe and convertible. It won't impact the roadster in any way...completely different car. The new 3 series will remain a saloon and estate with the current 3 series coupe being discontinued and changing to the 4 series

My dealer mentioned this to me back in 2005. They have changed it because of the way sales are categorised or something.

Ahh understand now.

Will need to see the new z4 in 2015, but one thing is just niggling me is the 2 engine line up its exactly the same with same performance as the z4 to the 0.1s) the lack of 2.0 and 1.8 and no mention of diesel and lots of details on M sport and sports line. With only 400mm longer (old z4 was 200mm shorter than the new) 35mm wider and the ability to go ragtop like the old z4/z3.

For me a die hard z4 owner having all that and a bit more boot space (the rear seats look a bit small but hay bit more space from a just about perfect boot now) makes it a worthy look for my 6th zd4 or may be just a 4.

Except the orig recipe m3 coupe that everyone knows and is pretty much a legend will no be called the M4.

Ridiculous BMW marketing if you ask me.

I must say I am a little sad that the M3 name will be consigned to history & forgot about especially when you consider what a legend the E30 M3 is.

I guess they may still make the M3, just as a four door and maybe estate. Pretty sure the E36 was available with four doors. I do like the 4 series a lot though. Seems like they've gone the way of Audi, splitting off the A5 from the A4.

Correct. The M3 name will live on as the Saloon, I personally always preferred the E90 M3 to the E92. but the Coupe and Conv will become M4.

The Cynic in me just thinks they have called it 4 series so they can charge more for it..... the Price gap between the 5 and 6 is frankly ridiculous when they are basically the same car! How can an M5 be about 75k and an M6 is nearly 100k!
