BMW 328i - not impressed

Just an observation-

I dropped off the Z4 for some warranty work this morning, and came home with a shiny black 2011 328i sedan auto as a loaner. I expected to be wowed by the luxurious detail/performance of BMW's most popular car. I wasn't. The inside is as good, no better, as a Camry or Accord. My passengers complained about the comfort of the rear seating. I'm now perplexed as to the appeal of buying a $37,000 Honda-equivalent. Maybe the Z has spoiled me. Maybe I bought into the hype of BMW's 3-series ads. I have to say, I'd be quite bored driving this thing everyday. And I wouldn't be happy about paying $15,000 more than the Accord for a similar product. If you must buy a people carrier, save the $ and get the Accord or Camry. Just my $0.02.

The Z4 and possibly the 6 series are the only BMW's I would own, yes BMW's are better to drive on a twisty stretch of road than most other marques, but having owned a few Audi's I would prefer, if I was forced too, drive a four seater from Ingolstadt.

I've never driven a 6 series, but I like its looks.

As for the 328i, I like the door handle LEDs and the USB port in the car they loaned me, but:

1. what's up with putting the cigarette lighter in the center console under the lid? Very poor design.
2. No covers for the two small storage areas around the shifter- kind of makes them useless for storage when you leave the car unattended (unless you want a broken window).
3. both cupholders are located over the legs of your front seat passenger = sweating drinks will perspire all over your passenger. My lady would definitely complain.

Can't wait to get the Z back!
