It has to be said that generally forum members are not impressed with posters who join purely to sell their car.
That might be your problem :|

Thought I had joined a while back!

Anyway, the motor's being px'd in two weeks - for a few thousand less than this price. Get in quick if you want a great car :)

why not advertise it for a few thousand less then and save the hassle of a px and lining the dealers pockets

a few thou less is the px value, so it's easier just to drive it to the dealer and hand over the keys - as sad as it will be, it's not worth hanging on for a buyer if the difference is only a few hundred pounds.

i've got it on Pistonheads & Autotrader and had no interest at all :(

It seems to me that people on this forum are a bit too precious about people joining the forum to sell a car. Apart from the fact that the guy joined the forum in 2010, anybody who refuses to make an offer on a car which they want and which is offered at a good price just because they don't approve of the seller's ethics with regard to a public forum has a serious case of cutting off their nose to spite their face

This isn't related to the OP, especially as they joined in 2010. However the reason some Forum members get a bit hacked off with people coming on here just to sell their cars is because they've contributed nothing towards the Forum community (how-to's/advice/information/meets/camaraderie/ requests for info/group-buys etc) and just seem to want to take without putting anything in. That's not necessarily my view but I understand why people feel like that. It feels like they can't be arsed to get involved unless there is something in it for them.

If he's had no interest on Pistonheads and Autotrader it's because the market is telling him it's over priced, which the lack of Forum member interest seems to be reinforcing.

Well said

As for the OP, to get attention quickly you need to make the price competitive, it's better to make an extra £1k than nothing at all. To have had no interest in the car simply implies that it is overpriced.

I might have constructed my advert a little better, state what the trade in value is and explain that you are happy to let it go to a forum member at a slightly higher price to make it worth your while.

There's a separate thread on this very subject.

I'm in favour of private adds even if the individual has posted very little or just joined, not trade whatsoever, being put up on the basis they have to take all forum comments on the chin.

People need to accept in these current times a luxury car, at the end of the summer season, with high road tax, high insurance requiring more expensive parts is not going to command what they think just by looking at what everyone else is trying to sell theirs for.

If I paid 8.75k for a late 05 in the height of summer with lots of extra kit, 2 previous owners, FBMWSH on 47k, then people need to wake up & smell the coffee if they still think they can get a premium price right now in a shrinking Market

Do you mind me asking how much you've been offered in p/x? PM me if you like. I'd guess that it's quite away from the current private retail prices?

I am in the market for Z4, although originally looking a bit older.....I'd imagine if you don't p/x then you should have a bit more leverage on the deal for your new car too? You're not far from me either.

Car is now sold to a genuine, decent buyer who could see how well the car had been looked after.
PX was £11k, criminal really. I agreed a sale of £14k which both sides seemed happy with.

Good on you. Glad you got it sold - it was a lovely car.
The car sales garage would have probably retailed that at £14,750
Sold it for Cash / no P/X discount - down to £14,500

Only making 2 to 3 grand margin..... ..

I looked at this car on autotrader and would have been very interested if it had the black leather as i would use it daily and for work and it black leather would not show up dirt. Comparing it to dealer prices it is a fair price .
