If you honestly think that is the value of your car then I wish you the very best of luck.
Cleanliness on these cars is far less meaningful than spec on a forum such as this, and yours is pretty damn low.

One problem is that they're able to do just this. If you levied a £5 fee for new members trying to sell, or imposed a 10 post requirement (like we do for PMs), that could go some way to resolving it

If you offer a service for free (Z4 classified listings), people will take it, and we can't then blame the 'customer' for doing just that.

People join FB groups just to sell (guilty), and people do the same with auto trader/eBay. All are offering the same service, it's just that the latter two charge and have no sense of community.

While I know I'm not a new member, I doubt I'd ever list any of my cars on here for sale.
 
Auto Trader is an advertising site, that is why you go there to browse, sell or buy, that is it's prime service. This forum is like a club for like minded folk to chat and help others with their car problems, it is very good at this. Buying and selling cars and parts is a secondary thing, for this reason as said above, selling on here needs to be made more difficult for new members. Otherwise it is just another FB.

Agreed, but when something is offered for free, it gets viewed (rightly or wrongly) as a transactional platform .

To a new comer, a platform (Z4-forum.com) offering a service is easy to view as somewhere for just a transaction, and nothing more.

We can't (or should not) blame people for using what is accessible to them, just because 'we' don't like it.

I've been on several forums where selling was a paid feature. It stops spam/scams, and helps support the hosting costs of the forum, too.

I couldn't give a rodents rectum about missing text. I found the price funny because over optimistic behaviour has always brought a smile.

I paid £1850 for mine. Has full service history, nor an advisory for over a decade. 2.5 N52. With xenons, steering controls and more.

I got the hump because you coulda and shoulda said hi in the new members section. Manners and all that.

I'm going to focus on something totally factual here. That missing letter is one of, if not the most important, error picked up on your ad. I joined this forum as I was looking for help and assistance with finding my first Z4.

I very nearly made a mistake by buying an "i" rather than an "Si" I had no idea there was the best part of 50 hp between the models. I would have been more than upset if forum menbers hadn't pointed this out (multiple members did) and I had proceeded with the purchase. I had no idea at that point there were 2 2.5 variants.

I am mentioned (not by name) elsewhere in this thread as a seller. I tired my hardest to describe the car as to how it was so the buyer was completely aware of everything, including any flaws. Not describe it as one thing initially and detail as another. I personally think that the use of the word "immaculate" is very dangerous for the seller as in 99.9% of cases it isn't. It may be VERY clean or excellent for it's age but immaculate..............

IMO that's one of the great things about this forum. The intervention, and interaction, of members to help less knowledgeable people make the right choices and have the maximum information at hand about a possible purchase.

One of the most regular things on here is new members asking for purchasing advice. A regular and numerous reply is "link any prospective purchase on your thread and you will get opinions and steers" I did this many times when looking for my first Zed. I also ended up not buying any of them as people knew all the things I was missing through MY lack of knowledge.

I ended up increasing my budget and buying a forum members car. My view of that was I bought from a longstanding and known forum member. That's part of what I feel this forum is about. There is a trust and protection of members longstanding and new.

IMO this is why when somone joins just to sell, that "protection" will include comments on an ad that will help either other members or people looking to make a potental purchase.

When I got the Zed back to the Village of The Dam after I bought it, I was amazed to read on the docs that the engine was rated at 218 BHP as opposed to the 178 BHP which is what I had assumed it would be 😊. This was followed by some frantic research on the various differences in the 2.5L engine configuration to find out what I'd actually bought (a 2.5 si Sport). I think I would still have to look it up now to be sure of the differences between the models.

I have always been blessed with the special skill of talking first then thinking second. Just the way I'm wired. It has been a curse I have learned to live with (and others that know me). I'm not joking, either. I have a big mouth and say what I think before thinking. I don't have a 'filter', I don't 'think before I speak' and am too old to give a shite about the consequences of what I say. So shoot me!

Why does this keep happening?
I thought it had been discussed a few times before and the consensus was that it was fine for people to join up just to sell.
Got to say that joining up , saying hi, lingering for a bit to get to know the place before putting up a for sale ad just won't happen. When someone decides to sell they don't wait a few weeks before making an advert.
Might be selling ours soon, not sure whether to put it on here or not in case I make a mistake in the wording😁
