What a rip off ... Less digits = more cash

Be amazed it that sells for that money

Less is more in that market. Try to buy a 2 digit plate then see the price.

'8A' is a snip at £175,000 at the moment.

Friend of mine got what I consider a good price

his intials and year of birth...

G* *9 For £5000 which I consider was a good deal , a lot of money to be had in plates.... I keep seeing a Z4 drive past our village which is GEM 7 what a plate! my mrs would love that :)

yep, that is the general consensus

i bought a7wep (means nothing) for £90 on ebay a few years back, just wanted to disguise the year of my car at the time

Vat should only be charged on plates they own if they are selling on behalf of someone there is no vat. I just got a plate for the mrs was up at 850 got for 500 with no vat. It's still online for over a grand + vat with another company
where did you buy through?

Regtransfers, the plate was been sold on behalf of someone in Nottingham, so they didnt charge VAT, national numbers still had the plate up for sale with VAT on however....

I also have a ZZZ plate with the first two letters being my initials followed by the year.

It cost me £180

Always stick a £250 plate on my cars, I like the personalisation. But it always stuns me what people will pay for their initials. £10,000 plus for two letters and a low number . Not sure I'd ever pay that even if I was to win the lottery!

Agree - paid £248 iirc for my S2 PJW 5 digit, timeless and my initials. Suits me and been on my cars since 1998
Same for Mrs CJ and my eldest daughter, although paid a little more.

I also don't understand car specific plates as when you sell you lose it or have an odd palte on the next car.

+1 - have a numberplate that is personal, non-car specific and not my name (so no cries of "oi, Mark, you drive like a wanka!" - like i didn't know already... )

I like it when you see the wrong plate on a car .... seen X5 plates on X3s and its always good fun to see an X5 plate on a ....RR/RRS .... someone has seen the light...

my favourite one with car specific plates was when everyone rushed out to buy M4 plates based on a rumour that BMW where going to call the 3 series coupe a 4 series........

ZZZ plates don't fit in this group ..... sell the Zed ? surely not guys

Can get 5 digit plates for 250-300 those prices are mad, ok if its something specific but for a 6 digit plus no way.
