I've seen a lot of threads regarding problems with Bluetooth pairing and compatibility and thought it might be useful to start a thread for people to use to list which phone model and carrier you're using.

Please consider responding in the following format - when the thread has sufficient responses, I'll compile them into a single table and will post the summary. OEMs can only do compatibility verification based upon phones available at the time the systems are being tested - before the cars are built so there's a chance the newer phones may or may not work with the Bluetooth system onboard the vehicle. I've had several phone models with mixed results with my car so I'll be the first to use the suggested format which is:

Country / Vehicle Year / Phone Model / Cell Phone Carrier / Notes (the Notes section would be anything you want to share with readers of this thread)

Here's mine:

US / 07 / HTC EVO 4g / Sprint / Notes: Pairing works, incoming calls and outgoing calls work, phone has an app loaded to prevent mis-dialing so when dialing out, I can't entirely use hands free but instead, I have to acknowledge on the phone screen that I do want to place a call, then the system continues to work. When I answer the phone, I can answer incoming calls using the enter button using the right knob on the head unit and pressing it inward to answer the call but if I acknowledge the incoming call on the phone screen, the call goes to the phone. Leaving Bluetooth turned on in the phone automatically syncs with the car with no problem. The address book doesn't sync but I don't want my car to have all 650+ phone numbers anyway. There are only a few I use regularly and they're available on the car's system after I place a call only once.

I'll be interested to see your responses! Thanks!

UK /Z4 07 , 120d 08/ iPhone 3G and iPhone4 /O2
Both iPhones pair perfectly with factory fit Bluetooth on both cars and are fully functional within spec.
No idrive on either car

UK / 2010 / HP iPAQ 614c / Vodafone / Numbers can be displayed and called from phonebook. Every function works.

excuse my ignorance, but if a car is equipped with bluetooth prep does that mean you can just step into the car and it pairs automatically or do you have to plug it into something?

You get the cradles from BMW, the boxes are about £60 although you will need a wider eject box on an E85/86 for an iPhone, which is another £100 or so. The iPhone 4 cradle isn't out yet, but they did claim november so it should be out any day, or you can hack up an original iPhone I believe and make it fit

so whats the best solution to in car charging? if you left your iphone's bluetooth on it would rinse the battery dead in a matter of hours! you're definitely going to need some sort of power supply, something neat that doest intrude the cabin too much.
