I finally decided it was time for a bluetooth upgrade from the cheapy FM transmitter charger kit to a proper bluetooth kit. The FM transmitter does the job and haven't had any real issues with it just some minor annoyances.
1) Hands free audio on the motorway with the roof down is pretty much unusable as the microphone is pretty much in the ash tray you have to shout and it picks up a-lot of road noise. You also have to have the volume up quite high which can cause an echo for the calling party.
2) When you venture out of the county some radio stations with a close frequency can interfere wit the FM transmitter and it is difficult to change on the fly.
I ended up getting one of the Bluetooth Aux adapters from Amazon https://amzn.eu/d/7sXri41 I was a bit undecided on the location for the microphone, I was tempted to put it behind the grill next to the roof lights where I think the mic was placed pre-facelift I decided on putting it behind the steering wheel as from seeing on here that is where BMW moved the mic to for better sound quality in later models. Is there a nicer and neater way of mounting it in the current location or is there a better location? I have a 3D printer so can make a mounting block for it just stuck on ideas of where is best to stick it?
Out with the Radio and snap in the adapter

Fish the Mic into the bottom of the dash. Please excuse the dirty clocks.

All back together and looking pretty awesome!!!

Having used a CD slot mount for 4 years I have realised it is damaging the CD slot in my head unit. I don't really listen to CDs these days but it annoys me now I know that my phone mount is damaging my CD player. So I am looking for an alternative mounting location ideas the phone arm I have comes with a vent mount and also a dash mount arm, the dash mount arm wont stick due to the texture on the dash and I think it looks pretty Phish stuck to the windscreen. I cannot stand anything stuck to the windscreen I think it looks cheap and tacky and attracts thieves are we still in 2010 where people steal ipods and satnavs from cars still?
Damage to the CD slot

Extra mounting things for phone arm.
