Bluetooth streaming question E89

Hi 🙂
So I have finally found the car i want, a 2011 30i MSport (manual) and collect next week.

Now it has the 676 audio but it has only got the standard Bluetooth and the centre console only has the aux input.

I have done some reading but did not find a specific answer that covers the set up in my car.

Am I right in thinking this will work and is it straightforward to remove the headunit, add this in and refit?

More like….you’re off piste ..take your own decisions..but..as you say it may benefit some folks ..

If you use an iPhone, Just get a CarPlay box. Then you get Apple Maps -never need a bmw map upgrade again- on your screen and Apple music or Spotify … plus navigate by voice and choose music by voice… can’t beat that.
 
OK, so just to update this thread, especially as there is a vital piece of information missing here.
@Erudite-Idiot had a standard radio, no iDrive, and the basic one at that. So a replacement radio that had built-in Bluetooth (calls) and USB control was retrofitted along with the OEM microphone and USB/AUX socket. Then he also brought along the loom adapter that has the Bluetooth music streamer in it (as per photo in post 1) and that was fitted as well. So he now has Bluetooth calls and music in a nice OEM set up. I'm really impressed with the streamer, it worked very well on the set up day and very easy to connect to. I also like that it's all hidden away. This would work very nicely for an iDrive car that doesn't have music streaming as well.

Hi, think I’m going to pick this up too. Can you tell me, is the USB connection always live ie you have to unplug when not in use, or does it go on/off with ignition?

USB powers down as part of the car's sleep process
