Bluetooth quality

My experience of the bluetooth phone feature in the Z4 is that it's very poor... you have to shout in order to be heard. It's bad to the extent that I always try to avoid using it.

Has anyone else found this, and if so has anyone developed a mod to fix it (maybe better mic?)

I don't have problems with being heard. On the contrary, people on the other end ask me why I shout, which is an indirect secondary effect of the (listening) volume being too low and me having problems hearinr what they say. Haven't found out how to raise the listening volume either.

Listening volume is raised by using the radio buttons on the MF steering wheel. I have no issues in hearing the people as with the raised volume, they "shout" in the car.

However, top down in the car - forget it ... other party can not hear you

Sp3ctre, I'm with you - mine stinks. No one can understand me, and it's very difficult to understand the voice on the other end, no matter how loud I turn up the volume. I've tried calling my own voice mail and testing it just to hear how I sound - it's awful. One thing to note (if yours is like mine) - the louder you speak, the more the system will compensate and make you almost inaudible to the person on the other end.

I've had it to the dealer many times in the last couple of years. They finally found an antenna problem, but that didn't do much for the voice quality. They even replaced the microphone twice. I've pretty much given up and consider it a costly mistake.

Occasionally I think about just fitting a Parrot system. The sound quality on a Parrot is amazing.

PS: This is my first post on this forum. Really miss the old one..., but glad to find this one!

Mmmm, think I'm going to call my voicemail and leave a message (I use a SE K800i), then get someone with a motorola to do the same and see if there is a diff...

I have the Palm Treo 650. Top down its okay if you're not going fast. But generally the mic does't work well even if you lean over to talk right into it. People say it has a reverb/echo.

i hear just fine cause of the 8 speakers they are pretty much being broadcast.

i just hate it when i start up the car and it calls the last person i've talked to....quite embarassing to have a mind of its own.

My Motorola RAZR V3 works great. I have to talk pretty loud, but otherwise, no problems carrying on a conversation. Even with the top down, it's okay as long as I'm not on the highway.

Never heard of that problem before. You must be hitting the "phone/dial" button. :idunno:

its a treo and it unlocks the key pad so if i bump it or it gets thrown into something it dials away.

anyone else with a treo have this problem? maybe not if you wear it, but its too big for me to wear.

I'm building a little holster in the ashtray to hold my phone and iPod (not at the same time) so I don't have to worry about bumping them.
