Bluetooth product recommendation

I've still got the weird issue where I cannot connect my bluetooth though, not sure if its meant to work for calls or music streaming but it just doesn't show up on any device, regardless.

Mine was the same, Bluetooth audio for calls only. BMW charged extra for the music streaming, my car was post 2014 so had been fitted with a combox (god knows what that is) all it needed was the coding changed to unlock it. I tried it myself with carista, bimmercode etc, no joy.

It just needed someone with more computery skills than me to connect a laptop and take a few quid to turn the music streaming on. I found a coder through Google, he checked my vin number by message, then confirmed that it could be programmed before I drove over - took him about 30mins. No adapter needed now with full control (volume, track select, etc) all from the steering wheel

I can't connect at all to it. It says to connect using the passcode but my phone doesn't find it. :x :(

Have you gone into the Bluetooth settings/options? It is possible that the previous owner's phones are still in there, if they are there wouldn't be a spare "slot" for yours. If you delete them and try again it might help, could be worth deleting everything paired up and starting again

I'm going to take a video at lunchtime and start a thread I think cause it's starting to annoy me haha. I pressume I have bluetooth as it "scans" but I cannot find the device. Will make a thread and properly explain tonight. Thank you.

Bluetooth pairing can be hit n miss affair especially with Android

Downloading the last version of Bluetooth s/w is a pre-requisite...

Deleting all existing Bluetooth connections in the bmw and phone then switching both Bluetooth on and off and in both cases re-booting takes everything to a fresh condition..

Then things pair well..usually ...

Just to follow up Ive had the firefly in for a week now and no issues with cutting out. The quality is fine for my needs, and the stereo itself is miles better than I had in my mx5 so very happy with it. As you say the best soundtrack is the exhaust.

Interesting collection of music I have on the hard drive though. There is a load of classical music on there, plus Robbie Williams, Robert Plant. Perhaps His & Her tastes?

What music was installed on your hard drive?

Mine had either been wiped or the previous owner never loaded anything (all the presets were set to "Kiss")

Just to add another option...
My ‘09 e89 has iDrive but no DAB so I gave fitted a Pure Highway 400 which gives me DAB as well as Bluetooth streaming. The sound quality of the DAB is much better than the FM radio and BT streaming sounds pretty good to me. I think it looks pretty good too, obviously an add-on but not ugly or bright as the screen only lights for a few seconds when it’s switched on or when buttons are pressed. The main unit which has the BT aerial is stuck in the top corner of the windscreen and the control unit can be mounted anywhere you like as it’s completely wireless.

i use an Echo Input. I can connect my Iphone to it hear my playlist on my phone
