I have a 2004 Z4 with factory bluetooth (ULF module), Navigation & DSP radio. I did have an aux socket installed but it was plugged in in place of the 12 pin Satnav audio socket which meant no navigation announcements, so I've removed it for the moment just to put everything back to standard.
The current status is that the ULF is early firmware which works on (even a modern) apple phone but my 'ancient' S7 android will not work. I can get the ULF firmware upgraded to the later revision 13 firmware which increases greatly the compatibility. However there will of course be no bluetooth streaming. I am overdue a phone upgrade so would be interested in hearing from anybody running a 2004 car with factory bluetooth successfully using an android phone.
I've looked at Grom but because it's a DSP head unit I need the DSP adapter which pushes the price up considerably.
I'm learning towards a ULF firmware upgrade with and aux in socket but what like to know what others have done please.
Cheers all, Andy.
