Bluetooth Passkey

Hi,

I picked up my new (used) car yesterday - 2005 Z4, 3.0 SE. It has bluetooth but I've looked through all the documentation and can't find the four-digit passkey anywhere

I've read online that the bluetooth device itself should have a sticker on it with the passkey, and that it should be in the boot. Is this hard to get to on my car? I REALLY hate to go digging under the boot carpetting, etc trying to find it and mess something up!

I found mine in a piece of paper inside the case of my natnav DVD.

I had however removed the boot lining to read it off the bt module by then :roll:

Find it written somewhere in supplied papers.
Remove the carpet and readnitnfrom the side of the module.
Ask BMW for it. Either from records or reading the car - chargeable

Should be an A5 card with it on. If not, the boot floor is your friend!

As an FYI back in 2009 my dealer wanted to charge me £25 to get this for me(which I later found was apparently quite cheap)

If you do go hunting in the boot then the ULF module is in a cradle on the rear bulkhead. Look for a 4cm deep rectangular bulge about 30cm wide and 15cm high in the carpet in the lower left corner.

You need to lift the floor carpet and undo some really awkward push in clips to be able to lift the arch and bulkhead carpet to gain access.

Have fun - its the cheapest way to get it...

Thanks guys. My husband had a quick look but, like me, didn't want to risk messing up the boot by pulling anything up. I guess I'll have to take it to a BMW dealer and have them get it for me. I don't know how often I'll actually use bluetooth anyway, to be honest!

What I really do want is an adaptor that will allow me to play my Ipod / Iphone's music through the audio system, and from my initial reading there's nothing that's quick & easy that will enable me to make a direct connection (don't want an FM tuner).

My car came with a 6-CD changer between the seats.

By far the easiest way to connect your ipod/iphone is to fit the aux connector but the downside you can only control it from the device

Just check that any of the previous owners haven't already fitted an AUX port, normally either in the glovebox (mine right at the back and hard to see) or in the blank panel under the aircon control, you will need to get down real low or feel with your hands.
