Bluetooth Pairing

I'm trying to pair the phone with the car's interface but it's not doing it. Key in position 0, button pressed, key in position 1, release the button, says 'Bluetooth pairing' on the screen, but that's all it does. I have a Blackberry 9000 Bold, not sure if this is perfectly compatible with the car, but maybe it should say something..

Although I was in a dealer earlier in the month, and a guy with some Samsung phone was trying to get the service department to get his phone to work with his X6. They just kept saying that it's not on the list so it won't work, but this guy was adamant that he'd been using it for a year without a problem.

This 'it will' / 'it won't' argument must have lasted 30 minutes.

In the end the service guy said that it's not approved for use, and if he continues to try to use it that the warranty on the system would be voided, so he should go and get a phone that is compatible.

I couldn't believe my ears :thumbsdown:

I have 2 Blackberries that both pair to either my Z or X5.

Sometimes you have to try a couple of time to get it to work

Stupid question, but have you remembered to put the phone in 'search' to add the Z as a new device?

On the Blackberry once connected you may have to push transfer the address book.

Tried a zillion times, think Im doing something wrong here but donno what. Tried searching from the Blackberry to see the Zed, but it cant find it. I even tried leaving the phone in the holder, like next to the button, thought it's something to do with where the phone is in the car. The manual itself is not very helpful.

The phone wil pair from a great distance so that's not the problem. In fact if my wife takes the X5 or Zed out it captures my phone in the home office and takes control.. Funny until I'm talking to a client and she ends up with the call in the car.

In terms of pairing there are 13 versions of ULF used by BMW and countless phones so it is pot luck, however I'd be very confident you 'd get at least a base pair our of a Zed to Blackberry

Ok, gave it the zillion + 1 go and managed to find the Zed from the phone. No idea why it was not being discovered in the first place. Anyway, I think it's not accepting the pin code, and it's the one written on the book. Any ideas if the cars password could be checked?

Some people have found that deleting the SMS memory helps sometimes?

Mine phone (SonyEricsson c902) isnt on the list either but works fine...

anyone know if the N95 works. I have a z4m 2006 model, as usual its not compatible, but hve got it to pair with the car but cant get the address book. any advice.

chetalien - I don't know your phone at all, but I and others have found that some phones can get the address book if after pairing you find a 'push' or 'transfer' address function in the phone menu. Blackberries certainly have this and it makes it work just fine, but I do have to transfer it every so often to keep it current.

gannet, you talking about deleting the txt messages from the phone? Done that anyway, the bugger is still not doing it. If after i get the Bluetooth pairing screen, I press Menu and go to Telephone , everytime i try to connect it says Pairing Failed on the screen.

Would this have something to do with the OS on it? Or should I try uprading to the latest OS?

Think the passcode is on the ULF module in the boot... unfortunately underneath the carpet

how old is your car? just wondering what generation ULF you have - need the part number to find out though...

You can't upgrade the software or OS on the ULF module (well aside a few odball aftermarket people who claim to be able to) In reality you have to buy a later module which carries a later OS and even then does not guarantee any specific compatibility. There are 13 modules available !!

Deleted all the txt messages, actually just the Inbox but could try deleting the Outbox too or the emails.

Car is a 53 plate. Don't think the password is wrong now, as I've put in a different password and it's not saying the password is wrong or something, so it must be something to do with the connectivity.

Not sure what you mean by putting in a different password. The only one that can be used for pairing is printed on the label of the ULF module. It's a 4 digit numeric code and cannot be changed.

i tried putting on the phone another on than the one the label, BMW said that if the password is wrong, it will say on the screen that the password is wrong. Well, it doesnt! No matter what I put in..

Another weird details of this would be that when it says Pairing Failed, the bar on the top changes from Bluetooth Pairing to Speed Dial. Don't get this!
