Bluetooth Pairing Issue

Hi everyone

I recently found my BT code under the boot of my BMW Z4 Coupe.
So I am going through the pairing setup. I get into the pairing mode on BMW and on my iphone.
It states bluetooth pairing on the bmw, so I then select the bmw from the list on my iphone, enter the passcode and the BMW makes a sound and shows successful on the lcd.

BUT once connected on my mobile, literally a second later it states not connected and goes back to bluetooth pairing on the bmw.

I have tried another mobile, android and iphone, and still the same issue.
I have also cleared the bluetooth history but again it connects for a second and then disconnects.

Any ideas?

A lot of older generation ULF modules do this. I have a pre-facelift with ULF and it's just not compatible with android. When android went to version 4 they changed the bluetooth stack and it was not compatible anymore.
I dont know how this is with your specific version of your ULF (there are 13 different versions!), but its a possibility.
There is no fix for this problem other than upgrading to the latest ULF (about £350) or write a custom firmware for your phone where you change the bluetooth (this has been done, theres info on the interwebs)

Is your phone set to connect for phone only. Clear the bluetooth cache from your phone too.

I think the car will only take 4 phones, so you may need to ensure that others are deleted to create a slot for your phone to pair. Im not 100% on that but I will prepare to stand corrected (as said the man in the Orthopedic shoes!)

Would you know how to delete the others?
Thanks

Found out how to do it

1. Press & hold the button call button (the one with the face profile on it), then after about 3 seconds turn the ignition key to position 1 and release the button after approximately 3 seconds. "BLUETOOTH PAIRING" appears on the display or monitor.

2. Press the button again for approx. 10 seconds until you hear a triple acoustic signal. "PAIRED DEVICES DELETED" appears on the display or monitor.

3. To conclude the deleting process, turn the ignition key to position 0.

Still doesnt connect though :-(

pm me with your email and I can send you a pdf of the facelift coms booklet where all is explained

Mine did exactly this the other day after I too found the bluetooth key, Iphone 6, kept pairing it, then put key to position 0, then switched car on, left it idle, low and behold click telephone and up comes the dialler, and 2 mins later my telephone book appears on the car, its worked. Mine is 03'

I'll have to have another go at this - I had to go and have a lie down after the frustration of trying to get my iPhone 7 to connect last time.

In fairness though the microphone copes so poorly in the noisy cabin at anything over about 50 mph that I usually find my old Blackberry headphones are the best bet!
