Bluetooth & Music

I'm popping into the local dealer Thursday morning as I need to get the code to set up bluetooth with my phone. I was just wondering when i get the phone paired to the car can i play music through it to my stereo?

I can do this with a bluetooth device that i have that plugs into the lighter as this then sends raio signal to the stereo, but it would be nice if the car could do it for me, plus it would be better quality.

Might help if mentioned the make /model of the phone .....all phones are not equal
Also z4 year will make a difference ............but having said that probably not certainly not if its an iPhone

ps if you get a phone to pair that is an achievement

No you can't regardless of which phone or ulf module you have. The bluetooth just pairs the voice and if you're lucky in many cases contact lists

And SMS sometimes 8)

Well there`s gotta be a positive post for the OP to look at it, so okay, its mine !

Mine paired very easily, with no messing about, with my iPhone3GS, immediately.........was dead easy to do. I also get all the contact lists and don`t need to do anything when I get in the car; it just works !

Calls are also clear and sharp, and I`ve found no probs, so far (touch wood) with reception...............so yes; it CAN work well with some phones.

Sorry - I don't understand. The question was would music play through the system using bluetooth when paired and the answer was and is 'no'.
There was no mention of an iphone by masonstorm, just comment in another posters comment.

Pairing is very hit an miss and is entirely dependant upon exactly which phone and which of the 13 models of ulf in use by BMW.
For the record all my Blackberries have paired 1st time to both my Bimmers and work really well and indeed most phones do pair to varying degrees

Okay; it would appear that my post came across contrary to the manner in which it was posted ? It wasn`t intended to annoy anyone, and was just a light-hearted suggestion to the OP that some phones would pair very easily with the Zed, which contrasted with wegras`s (equally light-hearted, no doubt...) suggestion that it would be an achievement if the OP could find a phone to pair-up, and your apparent suggestion that he may be "lucky" to pair to contact lists.

No offence was intended, as it`s just not my style.......... :)

well got the blue tooth code from the dealer, but I had to wait about 45 minutes, seems like a long time to hook up a laptop and get a code?

Paired it up yesterday and all works well with my work Nokia Classic 6700:thumbsup:

Is it worth getting a cradle as a charger, has anyone else bothered with this optional extra?

I've never bothered with a cradle for 4 reasons:

1) I can just leave the phone in my jacket and it pairs and works fine
2) I forget it's in a cradle and walk off (used to do it on my X5 all the time)
3) easy enough to just plug a charger into the power socket as and when needed
4) I change phones every year and would need a new cradle if BMW even had one
