Bluetooth Music Options

Hello!

I want to play my music via Bluetooth without having to use an aux plugin Bluetooth receiver (it's pita remembering to bring it into the house and charge it) - are there any other options? I've got the sat nav system in my car.

Thanks in advance!

This is the thing I have, and a few others I believe:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Audio-Interface-changer-connection/dp/B0773MX7BG/

Though Amazon is saying currently unavailable right now 🤔

I got this option: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth-Freisprechanlage-Musik-Adapter-BMW-E46-E39-E38-E53-Z4-X3-fur-3-6-Kabel/254073161800?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D23bfbc186e764d3d9b06aaec3fdca9e7%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D274110884876%26itm%3D254073161800%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ac467f78b-1074-11ea-814a-74dbd180b53b%7Cparentrq%3Aa8d2f75516e0a9e3aea2c11affe4a4de%7Ciid%3A1

Same as the one on amazon posted above but also has a mic - works great, can answer and hang up calls using the 'up/down' buttons on the steering wheel, can change track with them too etc.

Thank you. As above...how do you connect it?

It connects straight into the existing plugs for the CD changer (regardless of whether changer was specced or not - the cables are there anyway). They’re located behind the centre storage between the seats - sure there’s a thread somewhere on how to take it out if you search.

It’s not too difficult in the coupe - people will advise going in via the rear but I’d avoid this personally - once you know where all the bolts are it’s a piece of piss to do.

Just for clarity, only UK cars come pre wired for cd changer. USA car for example do not, but are pre wired for Bluetooth.

Something like the Dension BT models (pro or Lite depending on whether you want phone or just A2DB music I think)
https://www.dension.com/automotive/products/car-multimedia-solutions/gateway-pro-bt
https://www.dension.com/automotive/products/car-multimedia-solutions/gateway-lite-bt
I had the GW300 without BT and wish I'd spent the extra to get A2DB but wasn't sure at the time if it was compatible with the E85. Can't see why it wouldn't have been now I think of it, as the BT integration must be with your phone, not with the car. The rest of the functionality seemd to integrate well with my E85 at the time (e.g. ID3 tags for music tracks, MFSW control worked fine etc)

Thanka for the info. Will take a look this weekend.

A Grom will tick all your boxes.

Had one in my Z4, put one in my E46 M3 and will be putting one in my next car which I should be picking up this weekend.

I, for one, would curious to know how you get on with this, I get my E86 this weekend and this is exactly what I will need. Look forward to an update 👍

Out of interest, but what colour is the car that you’re purchasing?

New car? What you getting? Another M3?

Also, out of interest, what makes the Grom so much better at £130 compared to the suggestions above at much less?

[ref]R60BBA[/ref], It’s a black one, I was toying with the idea of getting alloys painted gold but I’m not sure. That’s a question for another thread I think.

Will reveal that soon.

I can’t comment on the others but I can confirm that the Grom is super easy to install and is most importantly reliable.
