My beautiful 2005 Z4 came with bluetooth and I just received the pass key to use it, but I am having trouble figuring out how to use it now that it has paired and transfered my phone book. I can scroll through my phonebook using the steering wheel buttons fine, but when someone calls, I don't know how to answer the phone. I tried calling someone, but it hangs up on them after less than a second. What am I doing wrong? I don't have the telephone part of the user's manual for the Z4, so I am shooting in the dark here. Any instructions or help?

Thanks!

Josh

Just received mine today, they didnt have the pass code (i'll have to ring them next week for that). Is there a standard pass-code on these worth trying?

First of all, how the hell do I enter the pass key and how do I activate the bluetooth in the first place? I have no idea how to link my phone to the car (will google in a min) but if any of you have an idiots guide then please post here!

Happy new year in advance!!! :driving:

To make a call, you have to use the buttons to scroll through the phone book then when you find the one you want, press the button that looks like someone talking. You answer the same way.

V-Man, you'll need the pass-code for your unit. Make sure your phone is on, turn ignition to position "1"--you should get "bluetooth pairing". Enter password on phone, then passkey. Turn ignition to "0", wait 30 seconds before driving.

Sorry if it sounds a bit "sketchy", but the instructions in the manual are as above. You have to play around with it a bit. I think it took 3 or 4 attempts for me to get it right. Now, when I get in the car and start it begins to pair up with the phone. It doesn't make any kind of noise doing this, but if you press the r/t button, the phonebook comes up. When you turn the ignition off, your phone may make some kind of unpairing sound.

Make sure your phone is compatible (not all are).

V-man If you lift the carpet on the rear firewall you can see the 4 digit passcode on the label of the silver ULF module. It should be on the units label and also on a small tear off tab.

No such thing as a 'standard' passcode.

I'm on a Samsung Instinct. What differences do you speak of?

halcyon, what kind of phone do you use? It can make a BIG difference!

There are 13 different generations of ULF module since BMW started fitting them a few years back. Added to that each phone is different and you end up with a situation that some phone work really well (as in pairing, receiving calls/making transfer of address book, etc.) others partially and some not at all. BMW have a list of approved but it's very limited so you just have to try and see what you get.
