Bluetooth installation question

Looking at my VIN information I see my Z4 2008 3.0i having the 2 following

S5GAA ALARMANLAGENVORBEREITUNG Preparation alarm system
S639A KOMPLETTVORB. HANDY USA/CDN Preparation f mobile phone cpl. USA/CDN

What needs to be done to have bluetooth then?

What part do I need? can I do it myself?

Thanks

Yeh I've just done this in my Z4C - from memory:

Have your fone in the car with you make sure the Bluetooth is enabled and on

Flip down the centre storage where the fone cradle etc lives

Key in ignition position 0

Hold down the button on the top of the fone cradle for at least three seconds

Turn the ignition to position 1

You should see a display on the Hifi panel - something like 'initialising' but can't remember the detail

Your fone should prompt for the Bluetooth code in your documents (4 digit)

Once you input this the address book etc will transfer to the in-car kit

Turn ignition to 0 then back on - pressing the fone button on the steering wheel should now display your address book

The above is from memory - will check the detail tonight just in case wrong

Regards

Mike

But does this mean I have bluetooth?

I thought I was still missing something?

Cars in the USA and CAnada can with bluetooth prep as standard just like cars the the UK can with CD changer prep.

All it mean though is you have the main wiring loom. You need a ULF, bluetooth receiver and mic as a minimum with pairing button.

There is a retrofit kit available from bimmernav.com from memory.

My car has the exact same spec'd option and it does have bluetooth, which is counter intuitive to the description. But the installation is a bit odd, it has no cradle nor pairing button. The car searches for a device to pair with when the ignition is first turned on. Maybe it was a retrofit? Bought the car used, so unsure of the actual history outside of servicing. I was not provided with the pass key code, I had to get it off the bluetooth module label in the trunk.

Ok I will try that before buying anything, maybe I will be lucky and have everything already in place :)
