Bluetooth Help PLEASE!

I just had my car at my local BMW service center to ask about activating/installing bluetooth for my phone. I have a 2004 Z4 3.0 with navigation. My navigation screen looks like it's ready for bluetooth (has telephone option listed) and my steering wheel has the telephone controls. I have a bluetooth activation number that came with my serial/vin#.

However, the service center tells me I essentially need a new computer in my car at a cost of about $1200 as my current one is not able to run the bluetooth.

Any suggestions? Why would I have a bluetooth activation # and the option listed on my nav screen but not be able to run bluetooth?

Thanks for your help! My service center was NOT helpful at all. First, I was told they could easily set it up for me in 10 minutes, then I was told I need a new computer in my car?

By the sounds of it, your car does appear to be setup for BT.

Ask for a printed list of the options your car came with. it will be on the BMW computer system.

When you say you have an activation number, is it a 4 digit code?

Do you have a pairing button on the end of the storage compartment door between the seats?
