Hey all,

Is hands free bluetooth support standard on these cars? I can see the button on my steering wheel

Car has this listed: Telematics access request,country-spec

Do you require idrive for this functionallity?

Thanks

As far as I'm aware e89s all have Bluetooth functionality but you need extended Bluetooth for audio streaming.

But the experts here will give you a definite answer

Don't think it was standard until 2011-12, sometime like that. All multi-function wheels have the phone button.

Mine is a 2010 23is and it has no bluetooth. Went to a lot of trouble trying to get it working. Bought a Professional radio with internal bluetooth and USB hookup and still not able to get it to work. Took it to a pro technician and he was unable to get it to work. Problem is the radio works with the bluetooth but no microphone hookup. Looked all over the internet for answers as to what pins in the back to hook to but no luck. The tech guy wanted to pull the radio apart and see if he could find the right connections, but I said no. Radio was a fair bit of money to be taking apart. In the end I have gone for the Pure Highway 600 DAB + Bluetooth and I'm quite pleased with it(just not the aerial).
Hope this helps.

after being told that mine had Bluetooth I discovered that it didn't (even thought it has sat nav), I looked into having it fitted by BMW and was quoted with parts and labour going on for a £1000! Presently I have a device that plugs into the usb in the armrest and allows you to answer calls and also audio streaming for £15. I've looked into the fiscon system that comes up with contacts etc in the sat nav screen and has full steering wheel functionality, supplied and fitted with BMW microphone £467. I've also been speaking to vocomo, they have a new box of tricks coming out shortly that is compatible with the sat nav and steering wheel functionally , haven't got a price yet
