Bluetooth- fail

I am sure someone will point out the obvious on this- but I cant for the life of me pair my iPhone to the car bluetooth.

I've followed all tips on the web:

1) press and hold BT button on cradle in arm for 3 seconds, turn ign to pos 1 and release button
2) press BT button for 1 second and release when turning ign to pos 1
3) tried holding the BT button to wipe stored phones etc

to no avail

Help me out- what am I missing?

Try this

Ign = 0, Press and hold button 3 Sec, Ign = 1, Release Button after 3 seconds, press and hold pairing button again for 10 seconds to delete all pairings

Any tell tale signs or ways of checking BT is working?
 
There was a thread that the OP had a similar issue and discovered in the end that the wires over the hinge of the centre console had fractured stopping the bluetooth button set the pairing process. Check the cables.

Am I correct in saying that no version of bluetooth existing for the E85/86 where it will stream music? A2DP . Mine has only ever worked with phone calls and if then it is pretty bad quality.

Correct - can't stream music over any of the OEM E85/E86 bluetooth.
