Bluetooth and phone compatability

Hi all

Was wondering if someone could help out as to whether i have the option to use my phone in the car.

The spec list says the car is bluetooth prepared and there is a phone/bluetooth button in the centre cubby (on the firewall).

I have tried pressing the button, but doesnt seem to do anything.

The bluetooth compatablity suggested on BMW website only gives the option of some old nokias.. I have an iphone 5.

Anything i can do??

Thanks in advance.

If E85/6...

(Works fine with iPhone 4).

With key in ignition but in off position, hold down pairing button in centre console
While holding down button, put key into second turn (Just before ignition)
Keep holding button down, and quickly use BT on phone to scan for devices
Select BMW and then enter in your PIN
Car then downloads address book and you can then use R/T button on steering wheel to check status and select contact to call
Hit the call button on steering wheel (Left side) to make a call and hang up.

You need the module fitting. Just check its in the boot behind the carpet on the rear bulkhead. Large rectangle bulge in carpet.

its for a 2.5si (06). Sorry, i thought id added that info on the profile.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Cheers

There is a possibility that it might not be compatible. I have an HTC One S, which will connect, but you can only rarely make and receive calls. And then when it does work, it drops the call either on connection or within a short space of time.

My car is a 2007 E86.

I was told by BMW that a software update might solve it, which I'd have to part with approx. £100 for the privilege of, and there was no guarantee it would work.

Good luck with your iPhone, though!

I have an iphone 5 which works fine in mine.. But their are so many different ulf modules.

Sounds like you havent paired the phone yet though!

iphone 4 and and now 5 work perfectly on my e85.

I do not believe there is any software upgrade for the E85/6 as the ULF module is hard coded (as far as BMW are concerned).

There is a less than user friendly pairing process which involves a 4 digit pairing code which is unique to your car
usually printed on a card with handbooks .There is also a Comms booklet which guides you in the process.
The pin is also printed on ULF and dealer can extract # from the car stytem
all iPhones are compatible

BMW dealer will interogate the module and tell you or pull the carpet back and read the number of the side of the ULF module.
