Blue tooth problem resolved sort of!

I'm having problems with my bluetooth as it will no longer connect to the car. Please can someone confirm that connecting it with satnav is the same as connecting it with Business Radio? I know the bluetooth is working as my Mum's phone was set up before the satnav install and it still works. It's not the phone as I have tested two other phones without success.

Only other things I can think of is the wire may need to go in the back of the harness using a different pin? Or the bluetooth unit itself is broken?

Anyone done a satnav retrofit and previously has bluetooth with it still working? :?

Cheers

This might work (did for me) whichever phone you are trying tp pair, switch off the blue tooth on the phone (or the phone itself) then back on again and then try pairing it again.

i hate the BT paring process in the Z4.

I need to swap out my work blackberry but i chose not to.. as i dont want to have to go through the grief of pairing it again!

Thats not worked as I've said I tried 3 other phones none of them connect, so it's not the phone. :(

If iPhone is still showing on Z4 B/T remove / unpair then try pairing again

which bit isnt working ? obviously you've swapped the plug which feeds the phone audio to the head unit, so could you have the pins in wrong?

Or does it not connect at all.. in which case surely it's the loom..

Im wondering i its something to do with the loom that goes into the back of the head unit. I havent moved any of the pins but do wonder if the pins are set differently when using proffesional radio. As I have said phones set up with the bluetooth before I retro fited the nav and head unit still work! But cant even get bt pairing up on the display when trying to pair.

I have now discovered why it wasn't connecting. On looking at the cable that runs to the phone holder in the centre console, I noticed the cable seemed limp. So I cut the outer sheath back. I then discovered the brown cable had snapped. This due to the constant flex needed when opening the lid. As a temporary measure I reconnected it with a crimp and now it works. However it does seem to connect and disconnect quite a lot not sure whether this is due to the cable or not. Also the phone menu comes up in French despite the the language being set as English.
Anyone know whether I can just buy a new loom on its own, and whether it’s an easy install?

Yes you can buy a loom on it's own, although it does mean taking most of the interior out to fit.

I have one in a box behind me, but it's not for sale at the moment.

Isn't it a nightmare to replace the loom though - in terms of getting part numbers?

I'd be tempted with some sort of repair.. although I cant see that the flap moving the cable would shear it, as all of our factory-fit cars have come like this.

Can't you complain the loom was already damaged?

Think its happened over time you couldn't see that it was broken until I cut the outer, but did feel it was broken fairly easily. Will go down the dealer this week to see what can be done.
