Bloody watery carpets

I thought I’d cured my wet patch (carpet behind passenger seat) by unblocking the roof drain, but taking my passenger seat out tonight for a refurb, it’s still wet. Now I’ve checked the drains on the scuttle? Panel below the windscreen and they are clear but, it looks it’s been removed and there’s a gap between the screen and the panel. Could that be where the water is coming from?

Well, I’ve removed the panel and it has been removed before as most of the clips have been broken!! I’ve re glued them for now and will order a new one from the dealers. I can’t see where water would get in there and as it’s been raining today can’t see any obvious signs.

I’ve also checked the doors and seals but there’s no signs there. Next step is to dry out again and check the drivers side.

Bloody annoying

The trims along the bottom of the windscreen have normally been removed, but this will typically be so that the windscreen wiper motor can be cleaned up to restore the correct "park" position for the wiper arms. It's possible that your windscreen scuttle trim was removed to investigate a leak, but it's not the only reason.

I think I recall seeing that water build-up in the roof motor well can spill over into another cavity, which then drains into the passenger compartment. I could be wrong though. If that is the case, then maybe you still have some old water in that cavity? Might be worth looking into.

It would have to have a hell of a lot of water to spill over the roof drain area. Have a look at the seal that runs along the bottom of the door, there are 2 small holes that can get blocked and water builds up here and runs in near the front of the door.

Check here. The most common area of water ingress. Sit in it and get someone to Sprinkle hose pipe On it.

I had a similar leak and entered where it is shown on the above photo after cleaning the soft top.Water was getting in between the back of the screen pillar seal and the front edge of the roof seal,I noted a small amount of daylight between the seals.
Only leaked in once when roof was cleaned on a slope bonnet facing down hill, carpet was very wet ,never been an issue since.
