Bloody Seaguls!

Having spent a good few hours on friday detailing my car and autoglymming the roof (cheers to my nan for lending me her garrage overnight, it all blew away the 1st time i tried) I was absolutely gutted when I got to the car yesterday to find that it had been absolutely covered in seagull sh!t...........on the paintwork roof and windows

I cleaned it off this morning (hot but not soapy water on the roof as it's been treated) and when I got to the car this afternoon I found it had been covered again...AAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!

Does anyone else live by the coast and have this to contend with? Any tips to keep them away (apart from standing vigil with a 2.2 air riffle!). As as far as I can see there's only my zed and the mrs's corsa on our road that have seen even a spong over the winter never mind getting waxed, and it's only ever our cars that are covered in sh!t, do they aim for the shiny ones?!?! :headbang:

I think they DO aim for the shiny ones! Several years back, I had a Calypso Green Ford Probe GT. Songbirds in our yard preferentially pooed on THAT car. Never hubby's truck, never the kid's cars, just my green one. I feel your pain.

No doubt they aim for clean cars. End of last summer I was driving home from work in my shiny car that was just cleaned. While driving under a bridge, a terradactyl (only bird big enough to do this) literally covered my car in crap. It hit the hood with a thud, smashed into the windshield then splattered down the doors and over the hatch. I almost crapped myself when it happened, and other cars were looking at me in terror as they passed by. It was the most disgusting site I've ever seen. When I got home the wife was outside, she looked at the car and almost threw up. So yes, they definitely, without a doubt, 100% aim for shiny cars. :x

I tried the alka-seltzer thing when I was a kid, if it does work it doesn't happen quickly enough for them to not fly away first. Also it would be be amusing but I'm not sure I'd rather clean their guts off my car then their crap!

There's 2 wind turbines in the car park of our local supermarket and when they 1st put them up a couple of years ago some kids were in the carpark throwing bread up to the seagulls to get them to fly through the turbine blades, that definately works!!!

one word: shotgun :P

BTW: What is the difference between a pigeon and a politician? :D

There is no difference, they crap on everything and you can“t shoot them

What is the best way of cleaning bird dropping on the fabric roof (before washing the car properly)? I used paint brush with water, but left white stain on the roof.
