Bloody rain.

Not always very funny. My house sits about 50 feet back from the River Towy on a bit of a slope.

The first two pics were taken about ten days ago at the lower field where there is a second small shingle beach....taken from either side of a large oak tree and for perspective (because its fairly wide angle), the river below is about 25' wide, going down to about 15' wide at its narrowest point in the second shot, and the big moss-covered rocks below are about 5' tall.

This was taken in the same spot half an hour ago - its come up like that in less than 24 hours..... :o

Think I'll be putting the bed on blocks tonight!

Yes its a bitch of a place to live LOL....especially when this happens and you've left all your bloody deckchairs on the river beach like Her Indoors did last year when I was away!
 
It's the law in Wales. Wet weather comes as a trade off for living somewhere so beautiful. I suffer with it too, even tho we're just over the border.
 
What a fantastic place to live!.
Not kidding, but do you have decent broadband, work from home etc...
 
That's got to be a worry... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thankfully, I'm a lot higher up than you, by the looks of it, but we've got it running off the Beacons towards us!! I love the way that the daily papers yesterday were full of 'hosepipe ban to be lifted'. Really?
 
Seriously, should be dry tomorrow to let that flow go where it belongs and hopefully not break banks further down stream.

Wet again Sunday though.

Forecast for the rest of June is a switch from wet, with the occasional dry day; to dry with the occasional wet day (so normal).

Truly hope you don't have to bail.

+1 The news on Radio 4 was saying it was 5ft deep in places and a lifeboat crew had to be winched off their boat by an ASR chopper :o
 
Lacroupade, looks a lovely place & Wales is one of my favourite places to visit in the UK.

Could do with all of that water in the reservoirs here in Kent to rid us of the hosepipe ban.

I know it may seem bad now, but i'd kill to have a river/fields/tree's at the bottom of my garden. instead i have next door neighbours garage. not quite the same :(
 
Yeah-must be nice to sit near it during the summer months-sorry days :roll: -with a drink or three,very relaxing! :)

Broadband is useable, its about 3Mb....wifey works from home but I'm kind of early-retired really.

Sadly we're decamping to France shortly - wife is already there, she works for France Telecom doing marketing for Middle East - and leaving this place as a holiday let.

Its looks great when its great, but the rain seriously gets on yer tits after a while!

I think Aberystwyth copped it yesterday but the river didn't come up much further, although I did lose a dirty great big ash tree that had been jammed in the riverbed for three years maturing ready for the fire :(

Still, not as bad as the first year we were here when I cut down two big ash trees, logged and split the lot (took me two days) and stacked it to dry....yes you guessed it, near the river. It then pissed down for the next three days and when I ventured out to check things, there was my woodpile....gone!
