Bonjourno,

My local service station picked my van up this morning for an MOT, I got a phone call early afternoon from the girl saying it needs two track rod ends, 'no it doesn't' I say, i put two on the year before last after you failed its MOT, they don't wear out that quick, and if they have I'd like to see them please, 'oh' she says, I'll speak to 'Ollie' and ring you back in 2 mins. No call so I rang back 2 hrs later, 'Ollie' comes on the line, 'we've had another look and it's ok, it's passed' No s**t Sherlock. The thing with lying is you have to have a bloody good memory. This, as we know, is how these buggers rip the unaware off, this and the old 'brake lines are corroded' favourite. How many people do they do this to, makes you want to eat your own young. :x

So do you have another failed MOT now registered? If so and given it failed last time on it and was fixed and required no work I'd ask them to correct it on the system. That will make them sweat.
If they didn't fail it then they are breaching the test rules as they cannot stop a test, do some work then recommence it

Hmmm...as yet I don't know, I'm assuming they failed it, then wanted to put the rod ends on, then re-test it. However as I've ratted them out that will mean it's failed, had nothing done, then passed. I'm not sure how that will work, and I certainly won't be paying for a re-test.

I'd have the record put straight given these days it's all visible to anyone online

'Never ever trust anyone, ever' that's my philosophy and perhaps why i'm still single at 46
But at least you can only blame yourself! Found to my cost this year you cannot trust anyone. You do right Chris!
sounds like there's a story in there matty...?

I've had the same corroded brake lines advisory on the Z3 for about 6 years now and I'm still alive

Had the Z3 MOTd by my local BMW dealer since Im bought it from them in 2008 and whilst I can't fault their new car sales and the warranty work side I find their MOT and service side has gone down hill a little over the years. They replaced the front discs and calipers one year and failed it on a kinked front flexible brake hose, hmmmmm funny that, it would only get kinked if the discs and calipers had been removed

Tim.

See you've still got the Z3 Tim :D what happened about the city car idea ( or have I missed something )

You did indeed, it went from Hyundai to VW Up to something else back to nothing

 indeed I was up for an UP! but I didn't get a discounted deal via Car Wow from my local dealer and to be honest I've gone off the fridge on wheels look. I've just received a discounted quote on an i10 which has loads more kit than the UP so calling the dealer tomorrow :) Quite surprised with the kit on the i10, heated seats and steering wheel, climate, anti collision, electric sunroof, Apple car play or Android with integrated sat nav and free live services for 5 years alloys etc. Makes the Germans look stingy

Much prefer the looks which has just been facelifted over the UP

It's nice to see a decision being made and stuck to
Gov would never be indecisive

How very dare you

Since the demise of my camper ( still hurts :( ) I now will have to use my zed as our back up car ! in this weather !!

i generally get the z mot'd at a place that will do the westfield if i trust them to do that car then the z will be ok. not sure where this year as i got northampton motor sport to do the westy on the back of a tuning session.

The car gets serviced at the main dealer and mot'd there as well - it only does 5k a year so there would be some questions to be answered if it fails !
Apart from lamps and tyres and the like!
